For the Kwikset Halo Touchscreen Wi-Fi Enabled Smart Lock, press the Lock symbol at the bottom right of the touchscreen. You do not need to enter an access code to lock it; Kwikset says the code is used to unlock. This step is specific to the Halo Touchscreen, so check your lock’s model before using it.
Lock a Halo Touchscreen manually
- On the exterior touchscreen, find the Lock symbol at the bottom right.
- Press the symbol to lock the deadbolt. An access code is not required for this action.
Kwikset gives this instruction for the Halo Touchscreen Wi-Fi Enabled Smart Lock. It does not establish that the same gesture works on every Kwikset smart lock.
Set up automatic locking
Kwikset’s app tutorial shows an Auto-Lock setting that can be configured by duration or distance. In the version shown in the tutorial, the duration choices are 15 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, 3 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, and 25 minutes. These options may vary by lock model or app version; check the settings available for your lock.

Check your lock model before trying another method
Kwikset says its app manages Halo Touch, Halo Touchscreen, Halo Keypad, and Aura locks. That app support does not mean their manual locking steps are identical. If your lock is not the Halo Touchscreen, identify its model on the lock or in its manual, then follow that model’s instructions.
Kwikset’s Kwikset App troubleshooting guide names the supported lock families. For Halo touchscreen or keypad setup, Kwikset also provides an Add a Halo Touchscreen / Keypad tutorial.
