To restore Morkvarg to human form, investigate his journal in Freya’s Garden, confront Einar in Larvik without attacking him first, and obtain the cursed wolf fang. Then return to the garden, defeat Morkvarg and give him the fang. Feeding him his own werewolf meat is a different resolution: it ends the curse by killing him as a werewolf, without restoring his human form.

Choose the outcome you want

Resolution What it does What you need
Cursed fang Restores Morkvarg to human form and makes him mortal. You can then kill him or let him leave. Investigate the journal, get Einar to explain the fang, and acquire it.
Werewolf meat Lifts the curse by killing Morkvarg in werewolf form; he does not become human. Take the werewolf meat from Morkvarg’s body and feed it to him.

If you want the human transformation—or the conversation that can reveal his treasure lead—follow the fang route. If you only want to end the recurring werewolf, use the meat.

How to lift the curse with the fang

  1. Defeat Morkvarg in Freya’s Garden and speak with him. An ordinary defeat does not end the curse; Morkvarg returns. Continue investigating rather than repeatedly killing him.
  2. Find the chapter house key and Morkvarg’s journal. Use Witcher Senses to locate the key he mentions and unlock the chapter house. Search below his lair by following the route into the flooded cave, then use Witcher Senses to find and read the journal. It links Einar to Morkvarg’s crew and gives you grounds to challenge his account.
  3. Go to Einar in Larvik and question him before violence. Einar initially blames the curse on the dying Archpriestess Ulve. Confront him with what you learned from the journal and pursue the dialogue that gets him to explain the truth. He admits his connection to the crew and says he used his father Toradar’s runed wolf fang. Obtain the fang and the explanation of how it works. Attacking Einar and his crew immediately can leave you with the item but without the information needed to use it to complete the quest.
  4. Return to Freya’s Garden and hand Morkvarg the fang. Defeat him again, then choose the dialogue option to give him the fang. He returns to human form and becomes mortal.
  5. Decide what to do with human Morkvarg. You can kill him or let him leave. If you let him go, he tells you his treasure is with a moneylender in the Bits district of Novigrad. The quest guide identifies the relic silver sword Deithwen and a page on werewolf decoction among the treasure-related rewards; pursuing that lead is optional, not necessary to lift the curse.
  6. Collect the quest payment. Return to the priestess at Lofoten. The payment and experience vary by choice, so there is no single reward total that applies to every route.

Alternative: feed Morkvarg his own flesh

Take the werewolf meat from Morkvarg’s body and feed it to him if you want the curse ended without restoring his human form. This resolution kills him as a werewolf. It is not the step to use if your goal is to see him human.

Why Morkvarg keeps coming back

Killing Morkvarg in the garden is not itself a curse resolution. The quest account says the curse revives him after a short in-game interval or when Geralt leaves the garden. The objective is to find a way to lift the curse, not to repeat an ordinary kill.

Quest context and level

In Wolf’s Clothing is a secondary quest in Skellige involving Freya’s Garden and Einar in Larvik. Its objectives include speaking with Josta, finding the garden and Morkvarg, and investigating Einar’s lie. The garden can also intersect with the broader main-story sequence while Geralt follows Ciri’s trail. A guide lists the quest at a suggested level of 15; that listing is not a guarantee that the encounter will suit every character build or readiness level.
