If your Galaxy phone or tablet is running a One UI beta build, Samsung’s official self-service route is to withdraw from the beta in Samsung Members and then use Smart Switch on a computer to select Downgrade. The rollback resets the device, so make a current Smart Switch computer backup before you begin.
If you enrolled but never installed a beta update, withdrawing is enough: Samsung says the device remains on its current official software. If beta software is already installed, simply withdrawing stops future participation but does not remove the build that is on the device.
Choose the right exit route first
Your next step depends on the state of the device, not merely on whether you joined the program.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?

| Device state | What to do | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Enrolled, but no beta build installed | Withdraw in Samsung Members. | Samsung says the current official software remains installed. |
| A One UI beta build is installed | Withdraw in Samsung Members, then connect to Smart Switch on a computer and choose Downgrade. | The rollback resets the device and removes data generated during beta testing. Restore a computer backup afterward. |
| You can tolerate the beta until release | Remain enrolled and wait for the official release. | Samsung does not promise a specific release date. |
Do not treat “leave the beta” and “remove the beta software” as the same operation. Withdrawal changes your participation status. Smart Switch Downgrade is the separate operation that returns an installed beta to Samsung’s latest approved software available for that device.

What to prepare before touching the software
Make a current computer backup
Samsung recommends backing up device data to a computer with Smart Switch before beta use. Before a rollback, make another backup containing the newest photos, messages, contacts, files and other information you cannot replace. A Smart Switch computer backup can be restored after the rollback, but Samsung does not promise that every app, setting, account state or piece of app data will return exactly as it was.
Open Smart Switch on the computer you plan to use and complete the backup before starting the downgrade. If the computer backup is old, it may not contain information created since that backup was made. Check that the backup completes rather than assuming that connecting the phone automatically copied everything.
Protect information that may need separate sign-in
Before resetting, make sure you know the passwords or recovery methods for your Samsung and Google accounts and any other services you will need during setup. Review authenticator access, payment or transit credentials, work profiles and apps that keep information outside a normal device backup. This is preparation, not a promise that those services will be restored automatically; some require a fresh sign-in or re-verification after a reset.
Have the correct connection ready
You need a computer with Smart Switch installed and a USB cable that supports data transfer. Samsung advises using the cable included with the device. A replacement cable is only necessary if you do not have a suitable one; check that its connector matches the phone or tablet and that it is not a charge-only cable. Buying a cable is therefore conditional, not a required purchase for every rollback.
Allow enough uninterrupted time
Use a reliable computer connection, close other phone-management programs and avoid starting the procedure when you must leave immediately. Keep the USB cable connected throughout the rollback. Samsung’s general Smart Switch update guidance warns against disconnecting the cable or using the device while an operation is running; applying that same caution to Downgrade is prudent because an interruption can leave the software recovery incomplete.
Understand the reset before you continue
Samsung’s One UI Beta FAQ states: “The rollback resets the device and removes data generated during beta testing.” Plan as if the device will be returned to an initial setup state. Do not begin until the information you need is in a backup or stored elsewhere.
Step-by-step: leave One UI beta and return to stable software
1. Withdraw from the beta in Samsung Members
- Open Samsung Members on the Galaxy phone or tablet.
- Open Settings.
- Select Beta program settings.
- Choose Withdraw from beta program and confirm the prompts.
Those are Samsung’s published labels. Samsung notes that beta availability and app screens can change, so your version may use slightly different wording. Look for the beta-program settings or withdrawal control if the labels are not identical.

Withdrawal is required before the rollback route described by Samsung. If you never installed a beta build, this is normally the end of the process; Samsung says the current official software remains in place. If a beta build is installed, continue with Smart Switch.
2. Connect the device to a computer running Smart Switch
- Install and open Smart Switch on a computer.
- Connect the Galaxy device with a USB data cable.
- Unlock the device if the computer requests permission to access it, and follow any connection prompts shown by Smart Switch.
The published rollback workflow is a Smart Switch computer operation. A phone-only menu, an ordinary over-the-air update check or a factory reset in Android settings is not the documented substitute for removing an installed beta.
3. Select Downgrade
- In Smart Switch, locate the software-management controls for the connected device.
- Select Downgrade when it is offered.
- Read the warning about the reset and data removal, then confirm that you want to continue.
Smart Switch downloads and applies the approved software package that Samsung makes available for that model and region. The exact screens, wording and whether the button appears can vary by model, carrier, country, software version and the current beta program. Do not disconnect the cable or operate the device while the process is running.
4. Let the rollback finish
The device may restart more than once and can spend time on a logo or progress screen. Leave it connected until Smart Switch reports completion and the device reaches the post-reset setup process. Interrupting power or the USB connection during software writing is more dangerous than waiting for the operation to finish.
5. Set up the stable build and restore your backup
Complete the initial setup far enough for Smart Switch to recognize the device again, then use Smart Switch’s restore option to apply the computer backup you made before Downgrade. Review the result instead of assuming a perfect clone: verify contacts, photos, messages, files, authenticator access, transit or payment credentials and any app that stores data outside the normal backup scope.
Restore in stages if necessary. Confirm that the phone can make calls, connect to Wi-Fi or mobile data and receive normal security updates before spending time reinstalling optional apps. Keep the backup until you have checked the information you care about.
What the rollback changes—and what it does not guarantee
The operation returns the device to Samsung’s latest approved software for the applicable model and program rather than converting the installed beta in place. Because Samsung describes the process as a reset, local data created during beta testing is removed. A backup gives you a way to recover much of your information, but restoration is not a guarantee that every application, preference, signed-in session or account state will be identical.

Withdrawing also does not force an immediate stable over-the-air update. It changes beta participation; the installed software remains until you use the documented rollback or install another release offered for the device.
Rollback now or wait for the official release?
| Choice | Best when | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Roll back with Smart Switch | You need approved software now, or beta bugs and app incompatibility are unacceptable. | You must use a computer, accept a reset and restore a backup. |
| Stay on the beta | The device is usable and you would rather avoid wiping and restoring it. | Samsung gives no fixed release date, and beta issues remain until a later build. |
| Withdraw without an installed beta | You enrolled but never installed beta software. | There is no installed beta to remove; the official build remains. |
Samsung says official release timing depends on analysis of beta feedback and implementation of improvements. Do not infer a schedule from another country, carrier or model.
If Smart Switch does not show Downgrade
Check the device state
Downgrade is relevant when a beta build is actually installed. If you only enrolled and are still on official software, there may be no beta package to remove. Confirm the software information in the device’s About phone or About tablet screen and compare it with the beta build information supplied by Samsung for your program.
Confirm the basics
- Withdraw from the beta in Samsung Members first.
- Use the current Smart Switch application on the computer and reconnect the device directly rather than through an unreliable hub.
- Try the cable supplied with the device or another known data cable.
- Allow Smart Switch to recognize the exact phone or tablet model before looking for software controls.
Samsung says screens and settings can differ by carrier, model and software version. A missing button therefore does not prove that the process is broken; it may mean that Samsung has not exposed the same operation for that device, region or beta state. Menu labels can also change as a beta period ends.
Do not substitute unofficial firmware tools
Samsung’s documented consumer route is Samsung Members followed by Smart Switch on a computer. The official material does not establish third-party flashing utilities as an equivalent method. Unofficial flashing can introduce model, bootloader, region and warranty risks, so it should not be presented as the normal answer to a missing Downgrade button.

Use Smart Switch Emergency Software Recovery and Reset
For a failed software update or recovery attempt, Samsung documents an Emergency Software Recovery and Reset flow in Smart Switch. Open Smart Switch and use its recovery option when it offers one, then follow the displayed instructions for the connected device. This is a recovery path for an interrupted or failed software operation, not a way to avoid the reset associated with rollback.
Use the emergency code option if the original computer keeps failing
Samsung’s recovery guide also describes using an emergency recovery code on another computer when recovery repeatedly fails on the original computer. Record the code Smart Switch provides, move to the second computer, open the recovery function there and enter the code as instructed. Keep the device connected and follow the prompts without switching cables mid-process.

Stop and seek service when the device is not recognized
If Smart Switch cannot detect the device, the phone repeatedly reboots without reaching setup, or the recovery process fails on more than one computer, Samsung directs users to request the nearest Service Center for help rolling back to the latest approved version. A technician can assess the model and software state without relying on an unsupported flashing procedure.
Can you roll back without a computer?
Samsung’s One UI Beta FAQ names Smart Switch on a computer as the rollback method for an installed beta. It does not establish a phone-only way to remove the beta while preserving the device’s data. A factory reset from Android settings erases user data but is not the same as installing the approved stable firmware, and withdrawing in Members alone does not remove an already installed beta.

Why stable software may not arrive on your schedule
Samsung says it cannot provide a specific date for publishing a release version. Official release timing depends on analysis of beta feedback and implementation of improvements. Beta periods and compatible devices also vary by country, so a date or build available to another participant is not proof that your model or region is ready.
If you can accept the beta’s limitations, remaining enrolled lets you update when Samsung publishes the official release. If reliability, app compatibility or supportability matters more than avoiding a reset, back up and use the Smart Switch rollback instead of waiting for an unspecified date.

The documented rollback wording applies to Galaxy phones and tablets in Samsung’s One UI Beta FAQ. Do not assume that the same Smart Switch computer Downgrade process applies to a Galaxy Watch or another device class. Watch-specific or other-device questions should be handled through the relevant Samsung support route.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I leave the One UI beta?
Open Samsung Members and go to Settings, Beta program settings, then Withdraw from beta program. If you installed a beta build, withdrawal only changes your enrollment; use Smart Switch on a computer and select Downgrade to remove the installed beta.
Will rolling back erase my data?
Yes. Samsung says the rollback resets the device and removes data generated during beta testing. Make a current Smart Switch computer backup first, then restore it after setup. Some apps, settings, sessions and account data may still require separate restoration or sign-in.
Can I return to stable software without a computer?
Samsung’s documented method for an installed beta uses Smart Switch on a computer. Withdrawing in Samsung Members or running an Android factory reset is not an equivalent firmware rollback. If you lack a computer, contact Samsung support or a Service Center.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsWhy don’t I see Downgrade in Smart Switch?
First confirm that a beta is actually installed and that you withdrew in Samsung Members. Reconnect with a known data cable and let Smart Switch identify the exact device. Samsung says screens and settings vary by model, carrier, country and software version, so the button may not be offered for every device or beta state.
Will withdrawing make the stable OTA arrive immediately?
No promise is made. Withdrawal stops beta participation, but it does not instantly replace an installed beta. Samsung also says it cannot provide a specific date for the official release; timing depends on feedback analysis and improvements.
What should I do if the rollback fails?
Use Smart Switch’s Emergency Software Recovery and Reset flow. If recovery repeatedly fails on the original computer, Samsung’s guide describes using an emergency code on another computer. If the device is not recognized or remains stuck, request help from the nearest Samsung Service Center.
Does this procedure work for a Galaxy Watch?
The documented One UI Beta rollback wording covers Galaxy phones and tablets. Do not assume Smart Switch computer Downgrade applies to a watch or another device class; use the relevant Samsung support route instead.
The Bottom Line
Withdraw in Samsung Members first. If a One UI beta is installed, back up with Smart Switch, connect the phone or tablet to a computer, choose Downgrade and expect a full reset. Restore your backup afterward; if Smart Switch cannot complete recovery, use its emergency recovery flow or contact a Samsung Service Center.
