To kick someone off your Cox WiFi, pause their device in the Panoramic Wifi app. That blocks access temporarily. If the password has been shared or you cannot identify the device, change the WiFi password instead and reconnect only devices you trust. Cox’s controls and app menus depend on your equipment and service.

Choose the right way to remove access

Option What it does Use it when Keep in mind
Pause one device Temporarily stops WiFi access for a selected device. You can identify the device and want a targeted interruption. The device must be assigned to a profile; a pause is not a permanent block. Cox’s welcome kit documents the pause controls.
Pause a profile Pauses all devices assigned to a person’s profile. You want to pause several devices belonging to one person. This affects every device on that profile. An indefinite pause must be manually reversed. Cox’s welcome kit describes this option.
Change the WiFi password Changes the credentials used to join the network. The password was shared broadly, the device is unclear, or you want to replace shared credentials. Reconnect trusted devices using the new password. Cox documents password changes but does not promise that changing it clears historical device records. See Cox’s Panoramic Wifi app instructions and Residential Internet Support.
Router controls Uses the router or gateway’s own device-management features. Your equipment does not expose Panoramic app controls. Menu names and available controls vary by equipment; follow the manufacturer’s current instructions.

Pause one device in the Panoramic Wifi app

  1. Sign in to the Panoramic Wifi app with your Cox user ID. The app is intended for eligible Panoramic Wifi subscribers; check Cox’s Wifi Control compatibility information if you are unsure your equipment supports it.
  2. Open the WiFi or device-management area and review connected devices and their profiles. Cox supports assigning devices to a person/profile, which can help with recognition. An unfamiliar device name alone does not prove who owns it; check household devices before pausing an entry. See Cox’s app guide.
  3. Open the relevant user profile and select the device assigned to it.
  4. Tap Pause device, choose a timeframe, then tap Pause to confirm. Cox describes Wifi Pause as removing WiFi access temporarily in its welcome-kit guide.

Pause every device on a profile

If all devices assigned to a person should lose access, open the WiFi tab, tap Manage People, then select Pause All Devices on that person’s profile card. Choose this only when you intend to affect the whole profile, not just one device. If you set an indefinite pause, Cox says you must manually unpause the profile when access should resume. The steps are in the Cox Internet Welcome Kit.

Change the WiFi password to replace shared credentials

A password change is the broader choice when the credentials may have been shared with multiple people or you cannot confidently identify the device to pause. Cox says customers can view or change the network name and password on Cox.com or in the Cox app. In the Panoramic Wifi app, the documented path is WiFi → WiFi details → Edit WiFi settings; save the updated settings. The exact controls can vary with the account and equipment. See Cox’s app guide and Cox Internet Support.

  1. Choose a new WiFi password and save it in the available Cox account or app controls.
  2. Reconnect household devices you trust using the new password.
  3. Review how network access is shared. Cox’s app can share WiFi details or display a QR code, so consider who can pass along those credentials.

Do not assume that a password change immediately removes old entries from the connected-device display; Cox’s cited instructions explain credential changes, not device-list cleanup.

If the device returns or the app controls are missing

  • For a returning device: confirm the new password was saved, reconnect trusted devices, and review whether guests or people with Cox account access can share the credentials again.
  • If the app path does not match: confirm that your account and gateway are eligible for Panoramic Wifi controls. Cox says primary account holders can manage home and guest networks through My Wifi where available; consult Residential Internet Support.
  • For non-compatible or customer-owned equipment: use Cox My Wifi if it is available for your account, or follow the router maker’s instructions for that exact model. Panoramic Wifi app controls are not universal across all setups; see Cox’s Wifi Control information.
