If your robot vacuum is pushing pet hair or leaving debris behind, start by emptying the dustbin and checking the inlet, brushes, filter, and settings. Hair or a blockage can interfere with pickup; the symptom alone does not prove that the motor or another major component has failed. eufy Support notes that “Poor cleaning performance does not necessarily indicate a hardware problem.” Read eufy’s troubleshooting guidance.
Why a robot vacuum can spread hair or leave debris behind
- The dustbin is full or airflow is obstructed. Empty the bin and check the suction inlet and accessible path for debris. Fine dust can restrict airflow even when the bin does not look full. eufy Support and TP-Link support both recommend checking for collection or airflow obstructions.
- Hair is wrapped around a brush. Hair can obstruct the main roller or side brush and interfere with contact against the floor, reducing pickup. Follow the manual to remove the brushes and clear tangles.
- The filter is clogged or not seated correctly. Inspect it, confirm it is installed properly, and clean or replace it only as the manual for your exact model allows. Filter-cleaning methods vary.
- A part is damaged or misplaced. Check the roller, brush guard, side brush, filter, and dust collector for visible damage or incorrect installation.
- The setting or debris is a poor fit. Try a more suitable cleaning or suction setting for the floor and debris. Some objects are too large or oddly shaped to pass through the brush or suction opening, according to TP-Link.
What to check, in order
- Pause the robot and consult its manual. Follow its instructions for accessing the underside and dustbin. Keep hands clear of moving brushes.
- Empty the dustbin and check the inlet. Look for debris at the suction opening and in any accessible part of the vacuum path. Manufacturer guidance from eufy and TP-Link includes these checks.
- Clear the main roller and side brush. Remove hair and debris, including tangles at the brush ends and nearby obstructions. Use the removal method in your manual.
- Inspect the filter. Check that it is correctly seated. Clean, dry, or replace it only according to the instructions for your model; do not assume it is washable.
- Check parts for damage or poor fit. Inspect the roller, brush guard, side brush, and dust collector. Replace a damaged or worn part with one confirmed compatible with the exact robot model.
- Review the cleaning or suction setting. Choose a setting appropriate to the floor and debris, then observe whether pickup improves. eufy recommends checking suction and trying a higher setting when appropriate.
- Contact the manufacturer if the problem continues. Describe what you checked and when the robot leaves debris. eufy Support requests a video of the issue and the robot’s condition when customers seek further assistance.
Clean or replace parts only when the model calls for it
Use the robot’s own manual for brush removal, filter care, drying requirements, and replacement guidance. Models differ, so there is no single cleaning method or maintenance interval that applies to every robot. The official manufacturer pages offer troubleshooting checks, not a universal schedule.
A brush-cleaning tool can help remove hair; use the tool supplied with the robot if available. A replacement roller, side brush, filter, or collector makes sense when the existing part is damaged or worn—not simply because debris is being left behind. Verify compatibility with the exact model before buying; generic parts are not guaranteed to fit.

When debris may be too large to collect
If the vacuum pushes a large or oddly shaped object instead of drawing it in, the item may not fit through the brush or suction opening. Remove objects the robot cannot handle and clear the area before running it again. If ordinary debris remains after the bin, inlet, brushes, filter, and settings have been checked, document the behavior and ask the manufacturer for model-specific help.
