There are at least two public Minecraft servers using the name “Unstable SMP.” One publishes unstable.net; another publishes play.unstablesmp.gg. They have not been shown to be the same server, so do not mix the connection details.
The steps below cover the server whose published address is unstable.net. If you specifically mean the Unstable Universe creator series, see the note about private production servers before connecting.
What you need before joining
- A legitimate, paid Minecraft account. Cracked accounts and offline-mode launchers are not supported.
- Minecraft Java Edition or Bedrock Edition.
- The correct server address for your edition.
- Internet access and, if the server is unavailable, access to the official Discord for maintenance notices and updates.
The public server is normally open to regular players and does not require a whitelist application under ordinary conditions. Temporary restrictions can still be applied for maintenance or special events.
How to join Unstable SMP on Java Edition
- Open Minecraft: Java Edition.
- Select Multiplayer.
- Select Add Server.
- Enter a name, such as
Unstable SMP, in the Server Name box. - Enter
unstable.netin the Server Address box. - Select Done.
- Select the new server entry, then select Join Server.
For Java, use the hostname exactly as shown. Do not add the Bedrock port after it unless the server’s current instructions specifically tell you to do so.

How to join Unstable SMP on Bedrock Edition
- Open Minecraft Bedrock Edition.
- Select Play.
- Open the Servers tab.
- Select Add Server.
- Enter a name such as
Unstable SMP. - Enter
unstable.netas the server address. - Enter
19132as the port. - Select Save or Play, depending on the screen shown by your version of Bedrock.
The port is required for this Bedrock connection. Entering only unstable.net leaves the server information incomplete.

The public server’s listed Discord invite is discord.gg/unstablepublic. Check there for announcements, support, appeals, rules updates, maintenance notices, and current connection information.

What if you meant play.unstablesmp.gg?
A separate UnstableSMP website publishes play.unstablesmp.gg as its public-server hostname. Its Java instructions also use Multiplayer → Add Server. For Bedrock, that site says to confirm the current port and supported version in Discord; it lists 19132 unless a different port is announced.
Do not replace unstable.net with play.unstablesmp.gg at random. Choose the community you intended to join and follow that community’s current instructions. The available sources do not establish that the two hostnames lead to the same server.

Is this the creator-series Unstable SMP?
Not necessarily. The Unstable Universe or creator series is recorded on private production servers with invited participants. Joining a public community server does not provide access to filmed episodes, the production server, or a creator role.
A public server connection can therefore be successful while still not being access to the series shown in videos.

Troubleshooting connection problems

Do you need a join command?
No required join command has been documented in the available server instructions. Connect through Minecraft’s multiplayer menu first. Do not assume that commands such as /join, /link, /register, or /verify are required unless the server displays or announces them.

What is the Unstable SMP IP?
It depends on which Unstable SMP you mean. The server documented here uses unstable.net. A separate site publishes play.unstablesmp.gg. The available information does not confirm that they are the same server.

What port does Unstable SMP use on Bedrock?
For the unstable.net server, use port 19132. If you are connecting to play.unstablesmp.gg, verify the current port in that community’s Discord because its instructions allow for changes.
Is Unstable SMP free to join?
The public server is described as open to normal players without a whitelist application under normal conditions. You still need a legitimate, paid Minecraft account; cracked and offline-mode launchers are not supported.
Can I join the Unstable Universe creator series?
Not by joining the public server. The series is recorded on private production servers with invited participants. Public-server access and production-server access are separate.

A current exact version is not verified by the available connection pages. Bedrock players should check the relevant Discord for the supported version before connecting.
