You can get publicly traded space-sector exposure without buying SpaceX shares by researching individual public companies such as Rocket Lab or Planet Labs, or by considering a fund that holds multiple issuers. Neither route is a pure-play guarantee: companies may earn revenue from several activities, and a fund’s holdings and weights change. Treat these as examples to investigate, not investment recommendations.
Choose between individual companies and a fund
The two main routes differ in how directly your investment depends on a particular issuer. Before buying any security, check its current filings and, for a fund, its current prospectus and holdings.
| Route | What you own | What to examine |
|---|---|---|
| Individual public company | Shares in one issuer, with exposure to that company’s business and risks. | What it sells, the share class and listing, financial condition, customer concentration, and company-specific risks in current filings. |
| Sector-focused fund | A fund holding multiple issuers; its holdings and weights can change. | Mandate, current holdings, weighting and concentration, expense ratio, turnover, liquidity, investment approach, and how much of each issuer’s business is actually space-related. |
| Broad-market fund | Potential indirect exposure through companies included in its current portfolio. | Check current constituents and jurisdiction-specific fund documents. The examples here do not establish which broad funds own particular space companies. |
Examples of public companies with space-related businesses
Rocket Lab (RKLB)
Rocket Lab’s 2025 Form 10-K describes activities including launch services, spacecraft design, spacecraft components and manufacturing, and on-orbit management solutions. Its shares trade under the ticker RKLB. These business lines offer a different exposure from an Earth-imaging company; consult the company’s 2025 Form 10-K for its business description and current risk disclosures.
Planet Labs (PL)
Planet Labs’ FY2026 filing describes a business that uses space-based imaging to make global change visible, accessible, and actionable. Its listed Class A shares trade under PL on the NYSE. Review the company’s FY2026 Form 10-K for its business, share-class context, financial information, and risks.

These examples are not interchangeable: one company’s business activities, finances, customers, and execution risks may differ substantially from another’s. A space-sector label alone does not show how much revenue comes from space-related work, whether a share is attractively valued, or whether it suits your circumstances.
What a space-focused ETF can—and cannot—tell you
The Procure Space ETF (UFO) offers a documented example of a multi-issuer fund, but its reported holdings are a historical snapshot, not a description of its portfolio today. In its SEC-filed semi-annual report for November 1, 2025 through April 30, 2026, the fund reported 51 holdings as of April 30, 2026. Its top ten issuers included companies in communications and other sectors as well as space-focused businesses.
Rank #2
| Issuer in the report | Share of net assets |
|---|---|
| Planet Labs | 6.2% |
| ViaSat | 5.9% |
| Globalstar | 5.3% |
| Rocket Lab | 5.0% |
| Iridium | 4.5% |
All figures in the table are issuer weights reported by the fund as of April 30, 2026; they are not current weights. The report does not establish what UFO holds now. Consult its SEC-filed semi-annual report for that period, then check the fund’s current prospectus and portfolio information before making a decision.

Understand leveraged products before considering them
A daily leveraged single-stock ETF is not a substitute for a diversified space-sector fund or for holding twice as many shares of a company. Its stated objective applies to a daily period; returns compound over time, so the result over a longer or shorter-than-one-day period can differ from a simple multiple of the underlying stock’s return.
For example, the Direxion Daily SpaceX Bull 2X ETF summary prospectus dated June 15, 2026 says investors should not expect returns over periods longer or shorter than one trading day to equal 200% of SpaceX’s performance. The prospectus also discusses single-company and industry concentration, as well as risks associated with recently public shares. This is a risk example, not a way to avoid exposure to the underlying company. Read the summary prospectus and verify current terms before considering any leveraged product.

A practical checklist before investing
- Read the issuer’s latest filings to understand what it sells, its financial condition, customer dependence, and specific risks.
- For a fund, check its current holdings, concentration, mandate, fees, turnover, liquidity, and use of leverage or other derivatives.
- Distinguish a company’s space-related activities from its total business; a sector label does not prove that revenue is primarily space-derived.
- Consider geographic and currency exposure as well as launch, technical, regulatory, financing, customer, and execution risks relevant to the particular investment.
- Do not rely on an old fund report to infer current holdings or weights. Confirm the latest fund documentation for your jurisdiction.
