The Metro Redux console update is scheduled for October 29, 2026, so it is not available to install yet as of October 3, 2026. Deep Silver says the update will be free for existing owners of METRO 2033 Redux or METRO Last Light Redux on PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S. Once it launches, PS5 players can use the console’s standard game-update menu; Deep Silver has not published game-specific Xbox steps.
When does the Metro Redux update arrive?
Deep Silver has scheduled the console update for October 29, 2026. That date is upcoming as of October 3, 2026, so there is no console update to download before launch. The announced platforms are PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S. Deep Silver’s announcement also schedules the PC release for October 22, 2026; the PC date does not change the console release schedule.
How to install it on PlayStation 5
PlayStation’s standard update guidance applies once the Metro update is available. These are general PS5 steps, not a Metro-specific procedure confirmed by Deep Silver before launch.

PlayStation says a game checks for and installs the newest available version when started.
- To check manually, highlight the game on the PS5 home screen, press the controller’s Options button, and choose Check for Update.
- If an update is found, follow the on-screen instructions to download and install it.

How to install it on Xbox Series X|S
Deep Silver confirms Xbox Series X|S support and the October 29, 2026 release date, but its announcement does not give an Xbox menu path or say that the update will install automatically. After release, check the console’s game update controls or consult official Xbox support. Do not assume a particular button sequence or automatic-install behavior based on the announcement alone.
Is the update free, and which copies qualify?
Deep Silver describes the update as free for existing owners of either METRO 2033 Redux or METRO Last Light Redux. The announcement does not specify whether particular PS4 or Xbox One disc editions, regions, or storefront entitlements qualify on a newer console. If eligibility is unclear, check the game in your console library after release or contact the publisher or platform support. The announcement does not establish that owners need to buy anything for the update.

What the update is announced to include
Deep Silver says the update preserves the original Redux aesthetic rather than remaking or remastering the games. Announced improvements include 4K textures across platforms, higher-fidelity animation, higher-quality audio, richer environmental detail, community bug fixes, and quality-of-life changes.

For consoles, the publisher describes true 4K at 60 FPS or upscaled 4K at 120 FPS with suitable display hardware. Those are announced performance options, not independently measured results; 120 FPS also depends on a compatible TV or monitor. Deep Silver additionally lists improved lighting, shadows, and particle effects, with platform-specific features including PSSR on PS5 Pro, TSR upscaling and anti-aliasing on Xbox Series X, spatial audio on Xbox platforms, DualSense adaptive triggers, and Xbox impulse triggers. The announcement says full technical patch notes will be revealed at launch.

If the update does not appear
- Before October 29: the console release is still upcoming, so no update should be expected yet.
- On PS5 after release: confirm the game is in your library, connect to the internet, and use Options > Check for Update. Follow any prompt that appears.
- On Xbox: check the console’s game update controls or Xbox support; Deep Silver has not published Metro-specific troubleshooting steps.
- If your copy’s eligibility is uncertain: verify the library listing or ask publisher/platform support, since the announcement does not define all disc and regional entitlements.
