Microsoft Company Portal is the Windows app used by organizations to provide approved work or school applications and, when required, guide users through Intune device enrollment. On Windows 11, the supported installation route is the Microsoft Store. You can also install it from the command line with WinGet.
Installing Company Portal does not automatically enroll the PC or guarantee that company apps will appear. You must sign in with the work or school account supplied by your organization, and your IT department must assign applications or enrollment access to that account.
Before you install Company Portal
Check the following before starting:
- You are running Windows 11. Windows 11 meets Microsoft’s documented requirements for Company Portal enrollment.
- You have a work or school account that your organization uses with Microsoft Intune.
- Microsoft Store is available on the PC and has not been disabled by company policy.
- The computer has an internet connection.
Company Portal is different from the Microsoft Intune app. For Windows 11, search for the app named Company Portal.

Method 1: Install Company Portal from Microsoft Store
- Open Start and select Microsoft Store.
- Click the Store search box and search for Company Portal.
- Select the app named Company Portal.
- Click Get or Install. Microsoft may display either label depending on the current Store interface.
- Wait for the installation to complete.
- Click Open, or open Company Portal later from the Start menu.
The official Store listing is Company Portal in Microsoft Store. Its Microsoft Store product ID is 9WZDNCRFJ3PZ. The Store updates the app through Microsoft Store updates.

Method 2: Install Company Portal with WinGet
WinGet is included with the App Installer component in Windows 11. To install Company Portal from the Microsoft Store source:
- Open Windows Terminal, PowerShell, or Command Prompt. An administrator window is normally not required.
- Run this command:
winget install --id 9WZDNCRFJ3PZ --source msstore- If WinGet asks you to accept source or package agreements, type
Yand press Enter. - When installation finishes, open Company Portal from Start.
The --source msstore option matters because Company Portal is being installed from the Microsoft Store catalog. For a noninteractive installation, use:
winget install --id 9WZDNCRFJ3PZ --source msstore --accept-source-agreements --accept-package-agreementsIf Windows says that winget is not recognized
WinGet is supplied by App Installer. Open a non-elevated PowerShell window and re-register App Installer:
Add-AppxPackage -RegisterByFamilyName -MainPackage Microsoft.DesktopAppInstaller_8wekyb3d8bbweClose and reopen PowerShell, then retry the WinGet command. If App Installer is missing, install or update App Installer through Microsoft Store first. WinGet may also be unavailable immediately after a first Windows sign-in while Store registration is still completing.

Sign in and enroll the Windows 11 device
If your organization only wants you to browse and install assigned apps, signing in may be enough. If the setup flow asks to connect the computer to management, complete the enrollment steps supplied by your organization.
- Open Company Portal.
- Sign in with your work or school account.
- If a setup screen appears, select Next.
- Select Connect.
- Sign in again if prompted.
- On the Setting up your device screen, select Go.
- Wait for setup to finish, return to Company Portal, and select Next.
- Select Done.
Some organizations configure automatic enrollment or provision the PC before you receive it. In that case, the screens can differ. Do not remove existing management or attempt to bypass an enrollment warning without speaking to IT.
Install work and school apps from Company Portal
- Open Company Portal and sign in.
- Select Apps.
- Use the navigation-pane search box to search by application name or publisher.
- Select an application.
- Click Install.
The app status should move from Installing to Installed. The status may take up to 10 minutes to update.

Required applications are deployed automatically by your organization. Optional applications must be assigned to you and installed manually. To check installation activity, select Downloads & updates. This area also shows whether an application is marked Required by your organization.

What to do if Company Portal is missing from Microsoft Store
Work through these checks:
- Search for the exact name Company Portal, rather than “Microsoft Intune.”
- Open Microsoft Store separately to confirm that it works.
- Check with IT whether Microsoft Store has been disabled by policy.
- Ask your organization whether Company Portal is deployed automatically or restricted to administrator installation.
- Try the WinGet command shown above.
If you only need to access applications that your organization has published, the Company Portal website may be available as an alternative. It does not remove an organization’s enrollment or policy requirements.
Fix Microsoft Store download problems
Store installation can fail when the Store is not registered for the current user, downloads are blocked by policy, or a firewall or proxy prevents access to Microsoft Store or Windows Update services.
First, confirm that Microsoft Store opens and that the PC is connected to the network. If the Store appears to be missing or incorrectly registered, open a non-elevated PowerShell window and run:

Add-AppxPackage -RegisterByFamilyName -MainPackage Microsoft.WindowsStore_8wekyb3d8bbweRestart Microsoft Store and try again. If the command or installation still fails, contact IT about Store policy restrictions, proxy settings, firewall rules, and whether the device is allowed to install Store applications. WinGet is a useful alternative, but it still depends on access to the Microsoft Store source.

Fix common sign-in and enrollment errors

Installation is separate from enrollment
Installing the app only places Company Portal on Windows 11. It does not automatically enroll every PC, create a management relationship, or populate the Apps page with every application used by your organization.
What appears in Company Portal depends on your organization’s Intune assignments. Required apps can install automatically; optional apps appear only when they have been made available to your account or device. If an expected app is absent after enrollment and synchronization, the issue normally needs to be checked by your organization’s IT administrator.

Is Company Portal free on Windows 11?
Yes. Company Portal is listed as a free Microsoft Store application. You still need a work or school account supported by your organization’s Microsoft Intune setup to use its organization features.

No. Installation and enrollment are separate. You generally need to sign in with your work or school account and complete the setup flow, unless your organization has already provisioned or automatically enrolled the PC.

Can I install Company Portal without Microsoft Store?
WinGet can install it with winget install --id 9WZDNCRFJ3PZ --source msstore. However, the Microsoft Store source and related services must still be available, and your organization may restrict Store installation.
Why are no company apps listed after installation?
Company Portal only displays apps assigned to the signed-in user or device. Check that you used the correct work account, completed enrollment, and allowed time for synchronization. If apps are still missing, ask IT to check the assignments.
Can I use a personal Microsoft account with Company Portal?
The organization sign-in uses a work or school account. A personal Microsoft account is not the account documented for Company Portal enrollment and access to organization-managed apps.
What happened to Microsoft Store for Business?
Microsoft Store for Business and Education was retired on March 31, 2023. Current user installation is through Microsoft Store, while administrators can deploy Company Portal through current Intune management methods.

The simplest route is Start > Microsoft Store, search for Company Portal, and select Get or Install. If the Store interface is unavailable, use WinGet with the Microsoft Store source and product ID 9WZDNCRFJ3PZ. After installation, sign in with your work or school account and complete enrollment only if your organization requires it. Missing apps, management conflicts, and endpoint errors usually need an IT administrator to resolve.
