If text looks blurry or your eyes feel uncomfortable in XREAL display glasses, start by correcting the fit and centering the image. Then try only the display and IPD controls available on your specific model, check whether you need prescription correction, and adjust brightness to suit the room. These steps may make viewing more comfortable, but XREAL’s guidance does not establish that the glasses or any setting prevents eye strain or treats an eye condition.

1. Fix the fit and image alignment first

A shifted or partly cropped image can make text harder to read. Adjust the glasses so the image is centered and the full display is visible, without forcing the frame into an uncomfortable position.

For the xbx a01 series, XREAL’s wearing and adjustment tutorial describes three vertical temple positions and S, M, and L nose pads. It says the right nose-pad size can improve image clarity and comfort: smaller pads position the glasses higher, while larger pads position them lower. Try the available positions and pad sizes until the display is fully in view.

2. Try the text and image controls your model supports

One Series: Text Optimization, color temperature, and brightness

On XREAL One Series glasses, double-click the X button to open the on-screen display (OSD), then select Display and Text Optimization. XREAL says Text Optimization smooths jagged text edges; its adjustable levels range from no enhancement to stronger edge smoothing. Try one level at a time and judge whether small text is easier for you to read. The setting’s presence does not guarantee the same result for every viewer.

The same display menu includes color-temperature and brightness controls. XREAL recommends lowering brightness and choosing a warmer tone in low-light environments. Its One Series display-settings tutorial documents these options. Do not assume that another XREAL model has the same controls or menu path.

One Series: screen size and distance

The One Series OSD also offers screen-size and screen-distance settings. XREAL describes distance adjustment as a way to move the virtual screen closer or farther away. Experiment with size and distance to find a position that feels comfortable; these are viewing adjustments, not proven eye-strain treatments. See the One Series OSD overview.

  • WORKS WITH YOUR USB-C GEAR — No Battery to Charge — Connects and powers over a single USB-C DisplayPort cable: iPhone 15/16/17, iPad, DP-capable Android phones, Steam Deck, ROG Ally, Mac and PC. Nintendo Switch/Switch 2 and older (Lightning) iPhones need an adapter. For long phone sessions, add the XREAL Hub to charge and watch at once.

3. Check IPD when the screen is incomplete or edges look unclear

On One Series glasses, XREAL recommends trying an IPD adjustment if the display seems incomplete, you see double, or the image edges look unclear. The OSD offers 13 levels, with each step changing IPD by 1 mm around the model’s center. Check your measured IPD against the supported range for your exact glasses, then adjust until the full image is visible and its edges look clear. The IPD adjustment tutorial explains the controls.

XREAL’s One Series guide also identifies an IPD mismatch as a possible cause of a blurry or incomplete image or eye strain. This is manufacturer troubleshooting guidance, not an eye-health diagnosis. IPD adjustment is model-specific; do not assume every XREAL product offers it or uses the same range.

4. Check prescription correction and lens compatibility

If you need vision correction, confirm the exact glasses model and compatible lens option before ordering anything. For xbx a01+, XREAL documents dedicated prescription lenses, a supported prescription range, and an official lens service on its prescription-lens tutorial. Use the range stated for that model only, and follow XREAL’s recommendation to use a recent prescription.

The XREAL Air manual gives different guidance: ask a local optician about fitting prescription lenses to the supplied frame, or consider prescription contact lenses if fitted lenses are unavailable locally. The manual does not make the xbx a01+ range applicable to Air. Check the Air manual and confirm compatibility with XREAL or an optician before purchasing lenses or an insert.

5. Match brightness to the room and respond to discomfort

The XREAL Air manual advises adjusting display brightness to minimize the difference between the display and its surroundings. It also says to stop using the glasses immediately if you experience eye strain or dizziness. These instructions are specific to the Air manual; follow the safety guidance for your own model rather than treating one model’s advice as universal medical guidance.

For ROG XREAL R1 only, the R1 FAQ says text may become slightly less clear at 240 Hz because of image-processing algorithms. If that describes your setup, compare text at another available refresh rate. The R1 FAQ also recommends a 10-minute break for every 45 to 60 minutes of continuous use and advises against using the glasses where you cannot maintain situational awareness. Those figures and cautions are R1-specific vendor guidance, not a universal interval for all XREAL glasses.

What these adjustments can—and cannot—tell you

Fit, display settings, IPD, and prescription correction address different possible sources of viewing difficulty, and which options are available depends on the model. XREAL’s One Series specifications list differences among One, One Pro, and 1S, but those specifications do not establish that one model reduces eye strain more than another. No independent head-to-head comfort or text-clarity test, or measured reduction in eye strain from these adjustments, is established by the cited materials.
