If The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival is stuttering on your Switch 2, start with Nintendo’s general software troubleshooting: restart the console, check for updates, scan the game for corrupted data, and redownload it if needed. The available Switch 2 review evidence does not establish a widespread stutter problem or a game-specific setting that fixes one.
What Switch 2 performance reports actually say
In an October 2, 2026 review, What’s It Like? Managing Editor Joshua Hawthorn wrote: “When it comes to performance, throughout my playthrough I didn’t encounter any noticeable framerate hitches or visual bugs.” The review discloses that the publisher provided a review copy. This is one reviewer’s firsthand observation, not a benchmark or a guarantee that every player will have the same experience. A separate Switch 2 review by Andreas Erber identifies the tested version as 0.16.10 and is dated September 20, 2026. It does not provide measured performance results or identify a game-specific stutter remedy. A Polish-language review excerpt reports severe slowness and input lag on the original Nintendo Switch. That is an individual impression about the older console; it does not establish how the game performs on Switch 2. Read the original Switch review excerpt.

Try Nintendo’s troubleshooting steps
Nintendo’s guidance applies broadly to downloaded Switch 2 software problems, rather than specifically to Streets of Survival. Work through these steps in order, checking whether the issue changes after each one.
- Restart the console. Restart your Switch 2 normally, then launch the game again. Nintendo lists restarting as an initial step for lag and other problems with downloaded software.
- Check for game and system updates. From the HOME Menu, highlight the game without opening it, press the + or − button, then select Software Update and Via the Internet. Check for a system update as well. A September 2026 review documents game version 0.16.10, but the available information does not confirm whether a later patch exists; use the console’s live update check.
- Scan the game for corrupted data. Open System Settings → Data Management → Manage Software, select The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival, then choose Scan for Corrupted Data.
- If the game is on a microSD card, test the storage path. Follow Nintendo’s card troubleshooting guidance; one option is to remove the card and download the game directly to system memory, then test it again. This can help check whether the card or installation is involved; it is not evidence that system memory increases the game’s frame rate.
- Delete and redownload the game if the earlier steps fail. Nintendo includes deleting and redownloading affected software among its general troubleshooting steps. Make sure you can access your account and redownload the title before deleting it.

Separate performance troubleshooting from visual comfort
A review reports that screen shake can be reduced. That may make the presentation more comfortable, but the available evidence does not show that changing screen shake affects frame rate or resolves stutter. Treat it as a comfort or accessibility option, not a performance fix.

The cited sources do not establish that switching between docked and handheld play, changing controllers, adding a cooling accessory, or using an optimization app improves this game’s performance. Avoid treating those options as proven fixes.

When the problem continues
If the game still stutters after Nintendo’s checks, note when it happens and whether the game is installed on a microSD card or system memory. That information can help distinguish a repeatable in-game slowdown from a possible installation or storage issue when seeking support. The available Switch 2 reviews do not provide objective performance measurements that would identify a specific scene, setting, or known Switch 2 fault.
