If noise cancellation seems weak on Nothing Headphone (1), first confirm that ANC—not Transparency or ANC Off—is selected in the Nothing X app. Then reseat the cups and compare the modes in the same place, including away from direct airflow. Nothing advertises ANC up to 42 dB, but that manufacturer specification does not mean every sound, including wind, will disappear.
Confirm ANC is selected in Nothing X
Open the Nothing X app and check the device’s Noise Control setting. Nothing Support recommends checking this setting when noise cancellation is ineffective: I feel the noise cancellation is not effective. What should I do?
Headphone (1) has ANC, Transparency, and Off modes. ANC is intended to reduce background sound; Transparency intentionally lets environmental sound through. The product page describes long-pressing a control to switch between ANC and Transparency, but controls can be customized, so verify the active mode in the app rather than relying only on the button: Nothing Headphone (1).

Adjust the headband and position both ear cups evenly around your ears. Look for an obvious gap or a cup that is sitting differently on one side. Hair, glasses arms, a hat, or an uneven fit are practical things to check because they can interfere with the seal; Nothing does not identify any one of them as a confirmed cause.

Nothing says its adaptive ANC algorithm detects fit and external noise leakage. A better, more even fit may therefore help the headphones respond as intended, but it is not a guaranteed fix for wind-like noise.
Compare ANC, Off, and Transparency in the same conditions
- Stay in one location. Listen briefly with ANC enabled, then compare with ANC Off and Transparency if available.
- Repeat away from direct airflow. Move away from a fan, an open car window, or outdoor wind, and compare again.
- Notice what changes. If the sound changes when you move out of the airflow, wind interacting with the headphones may be involved. If a wind-like sound continues without direct airflow—especially if it is persistent or one-sided—contact Nothing support.
This is a simple diagnostic comparison, not an official wind-noise procedure or a guaranteed remedy. Nothing’s published pages confirm the modes and settings, but do not provide comparative wind-performance measurements or a specific wind-noise fix.

Check available app and update options
In Nothing X, inspect the available device settings and any offered updates. The official information cited here does not establish a current firmware version or confirm that a firmware update fixes wind noise, so do not assume an update will resolve it. If checking the mode and fit does not help and abnormal noise persists, contact Nothing Support for guidance rather than attempting an unverified repair.

What Nothing’s ANC figure means
Nothing states that Headphone (1) supports ANC “up to 42 dB” on its ANC support page. That is a manufacturer specification, not an independent measurement of wind reduction or a promise that all sounds will be silenced. The product page also gives manufacturer playback estimates of up to 35 hours with ANC on and up to 80 hours with ANC off; those figures describe battery life, not cancellation performance.
