The full PC version of Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 is scheduled for October 14, 2026, and has not released as of October 7, 2026. That means there are no verified full-game settings or performance fixes to recommend yet. You can compare your PC with the current Steam requirements; if you are playing the available demo, one launch option has mixed player reports for a startup crash, but it is not an FPS or stutter fix.
What you can do about FPS and stuttering before release
Because the full game is not available yet, no repeatable full-game tests establish which settings improve frame rate or reduce stuttering. Steam’s listed FPS targets are store specifications, not independent benchmark results. The useful step now is to check your hardware against the current Steam listing and avoid treating a demo startup workaround as performance advice.
The Steam listing reviewed October 7, 2026 says the game is not yet available and gives a planned release date of October 14, 2026. A demo is available. Auroch Digital’s FAQ also lists October 14.
Compare your PC with Steam’s current requirements
The following specifications and targets come from Steam’s store listing reviewed October 7, 2026. The 60 FPS figures are the store’s stated targets, not independently measured results.

Steam does not state expected performance for PCs between or below these tiers, nor does it describe frame-time consistency or stuttering. Meeting a listed tier therefore is not a guarantee that a particular system will achieve the target in every scene.
Be aware that Auroch’s requirements differ from Steam’s
Auroch Digital’s FAQ publishes a second, materially different PC requirements table. It lists DirectX 11 and 5 GB storage, rather than Steam’s DirectX 12 and 13 GB, and names older processors and graphics cards. The sources reviewed do not explain whether the FAQ is outdated or refers to a different build, so do not combine the two tables or treat the FAQ list as confirmation of Steam’s requirements.

Demo-only: a player-reported launch option for a crash
A Steam community discussion opened May 21, 2026 reports a Direct3D 12 startup crash in the demo. Some players said adding -dx11 to the game’s Steam launch options let the demo start; another said it did not work, and later reports describe the crash persisting. These are mixed user reports, not a developer-confirmed fix.

-dx11from the same field.
This workaround concerns launching the demo only. It has not been shown to improve FPS, reduce stuttering, or work in the full release. The thread is available at Steam Community.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why generic FPS tweaks and upgrades are premature
No evidence available before release establishes that a particular graphics setting, driver change, cooling product, storage upgrade, optimizer, or new graphics card fixes Boltgun 2 stutter. If your PC falls below Steam’s listed specifications, that is a reason to check compatibility—not proof that an upgrade is necessary. Wait for full-game testing and distinguish a launch crash from low average FPS and uneven frame pacing; they are different problems and may require different fixes.
