To get rid of the HDMI banner on a Sony TV, open Settings, find Info banner, and select Disable, Hidden, or Off if your model offers that option. Sony uses “Info Banner” for the overlay that can appear when you switch inputs. The exact menu path and available choices vary by TV model.
Find the Info Banner setting
First identify your Sony TV model and whether its interface is Google TV, Android TV, or another system. Sony’s model-identification guidance and support pages can help you find the correct Help Guide. Menu names differ between models, so use the route that matches the menus on your TV rather than expecting every path below to appear.

- Google TV or Android TV models: Try Channels & Inputs → Info banner → Disable.
- Other Google TV or Android TV menu layouts: Try Watching TV → Info banner → Hidden or Disable; Channels → Info banner → Hidden or Off; or Channel setup → Info banner → Off or Disable.
- Some older models: Try Settings → Preferences → Setup → Info Banner → Hidden, or Settings → System Settings → Setup → Info Banner → Off or Hidden.
These are alternative paths, not steps to follow in sequence. Sony notes that the option to turn off or change the Info Banner varies by TV model (Sony Support; Sony UK Support). Some models may not offer a way to disable it completely.

Check whether it is a display-information overlay
On some Sony models, pressing DISPLAY or Image Info toggles the Info Banner. If the banner appeared after you pressed one of those buttons, press the same button again. Sony says that on some models a displayed banner may also disappear after about 30 seconds; this behavior is model-dependent.
Confirm which device is showing the message
Sony describes the Info Banner as information that can appear when changing inputs, including details about an external input (Sony Help Guide: Setting the information banner). If the message remains after you disable the TV’s Info Banner, note whether it appears only while the HDMI device is active and whether it includes controls specific to that device. Check the TV or connected device’s manual for the relevant setting; the available Sony guidance does not establish one universal fix for every persistent HDMI overlay.
