There is no universal PS5 setting confirmed to send all game audio to a TV and headset simultaneously. Start by checking the PS5 audio-output options and your TV’s instructions; whether both can play sound at once depends on the connected devices and how they are connected. If the TV cannot do it, an HDMI audio extractor may provide another route, but its video and audio compatibility must match your setup.
First, decide what you want to hear in each place
“TV and headset at once” can mean either duplicated game sound in both destinations, or game sound from the TV with party chat in the headset. These are different routing goals. The PS5’s headphone-output setting can change what the headset receives, but it does not guarantee that the TV and headset will both play full game audio.
Check the PS5 audio output settings
- On the console, open Settings > Sound > Audio Output. You can also open the Control Center, select Sound, and change the output device there.
- Review the selected output device and Switch Output Device Automatically. The available choices and behavior depend on the connected devices and configuration.
- Review Output to Headphones to see how headphone audio is routed. Sony’s PULSE 3D manual points to Settings > Sound > Audio Output > Output to Headphones for this setting.
Sony notes that audio options vary with attached devices and that not every audio device is compatible with PS5. Check whether your TV supports simultaneous output
Look up the support information for your exact TV model and connection. Some Sony TV models support certain combinations of TV-speaker and headphone or audio-device output; other configurations disable the TV speakers when headphones are connected through the headphone jack, HDMI, or Bluetooth. Do not assume that a setting available on one TV applies to another.

Use the TV’s documentation to confirm both the connection type and whether sound can come from its speakers and the connected audio device simultaneously. Sony’s TV and headphone simultaneous-listening guidance describes model- and setup-dependent behavior.
Consider an HDMI audio extractor if native routing is insufficient
An HDMI audio extractor with pass-through can send video onward to the TV while providing a separate audio output, such as optical or analog, for another device. - Audio format support
- The separate audio connector your headset, transmitter, or audio system accepts
An extractor adds hardware and another compatibility point. The cited guide shows how this product category is connected, but it does not establish that a specific model preserves every current PS5 or display feature. Check your TV and console settings first, then verify the exact extractor’s specifications.

Test game sound and chat separately
After changing settings or connections, play a game and check the TV and headset individually. Then test party chat separately. This helps identify whether the headset is receiving game audio, chat, or both, and whether the TV continues to play sound. If the result differs from what you expect, recheck the active PS5 output device, the headphone-output option, and the TV’s simultaneous-output instructions.
A headset by itself does not solve dual output: the deciding factors are the PS5’s available routing, the TV’s capabilities, and any added audio hardware. No single headset setting guarantees full game audio in both destinations across all TVs and accessories.
