Start with the current arrival instructions for your event’s venue, since parking, traffic restrictions and transit service depend on the event and date. For events at The Oncenter, the venue names its garage on E. Adams Street and its lot on Harrison Street as primary parking options. Other downtown lots and garages may work if those are full or unsuitable; check current availability and posted rates before setting out.
What parking options are available for an event in downtown Syracuse?
Use your venue’s directions first, then compare nearby facilities by walking route, vehicle clearance, accessibility and the operator’s event-day rules. The Oncenter is a useful example because its official parking page identifies two facilities serving its Convention Center, War Memorial Arena and Civic Center Theaters. Those locations are not automatically the best choice for events at other downtown venues.
The Oncenter garage
The garage is at 400–498 E. Adams Street, Syracuse, NY 13202. The Oncenter lists capacity as 1,000 spaces, including 40 accessible spaces, and says a skybridge connects the garage to the Convention Center. These are published capacities, not a guarantee that spaces will be available on an event date. See The Oncenter’s parking and directions page for current instructions.

The Oncenter lot
The lot is at 400–498 Harrison Street, Syracuse, NY 13202. The venue lists 290 spaces, including 13 accessible spaces. Check the venue’s current instructions to confirm whether this lot fits your event and needs.

Other downtown parking
The Downtown Committee of Syracuse’s downtown parking guide lists additional public lots and garages, including National Grid and One Herald Place lots as options for special-event parking. Facility availability, rules and prices can change, so verify details with the operator and read signs at the entrance.
Will your vehicle fit in The Oncenter garage?
The garage’s posted height restriction is 9 ft 6 in on the first floor and 6 ft 9 in on the second floor and above, according to The Oncenter. Check your vehicle’s full height, including roof racks or other equipment, against the clearance for the level you may need. If it exceeds the upper-floor clearance, ask the venue about the surface lot or find another suitable facility before driving in.

What should you know about event-day parking rates and availability?
The Oncenter says its parking spaces are first-come, first-served, overnight parking is not permitted, and rates vary by vehicle size, entry time and event. Event-specific rates are posted on entry signage; the venue does not establish one stable event price on its parking page. Allow time for traffic and parking, as the venue advises.
The Downtown Committee’s 2026 guide reports on-street parking at $2 per hour, with a two-hour maximum. Treat that as guide-reported information subject to change, not a rate that applies at every curb or during every event. Check signs where you park and confirm current rules before relying on a meter.

How should you plan your route and arrival?
- Confirm the venue and event date. Open the event venue’s current travel or arrival instructions; the right parking destination depends on where the event is held.
- Choose a suitable facility. For The Oncenter, compare its Adams Street garage and Harrison Street lot with the downtown guide’s other facilities, considering vehicle height, accessibility and walking route.
- Check current conditions. Confirm facility status and rates with the operator, and follow posted event signage. Do not assume a lot is open or has space because it appears in a parking guide.
- Navigate using current directions. Use the venue’s directions page and a current map or navigation service for your origin and travel date. Allow extra time for traffic and finding parking; no single approach or road pattern suits every trip.
Can you use transit, a shuttle, rideshare or a scooter instead?
The Downtown Committee lists Centro, the Connective Corridor shuttle, ridesharing and Veo as alternatives to driving. Centro publishes Park-N-Ride locations and local event service information. These listings do not establish that a particular route, shuttle, scooter or event service will operate at the time of your event. Check the provider’s current schedule and service information for that date before relying on an alternative.
