For Legion Dalaran, the floating city above the Broken Isles, use your Dalaran Hearthstone if your character has one. Otherwise, travel from Stormwind or Orgrimmar to Azsuna through the capital’s portal room, then fly east to the city. These directions are for Legion Dalaran, not the older Dalaran in Northrend.
Choose the route that fits your character

Use the Dalaran Hearthstone
If the character has a Dalaran Hearthstone and can use it, activate it from your inventory or toy collection to travel straight to Legion Dalaran. A third-party route guide reports that characters who started the Legion campaign on a character in their Warband should have the item in their toy collection, but that does not establish availability for every character or account: Warcraft Tavern’s Dalaran route guide.
Travel from Stormwind or Orgrimmar through Azsuna
- Alliance — Stormwind: Go to the portal room and take the portal to Azsuna.
- Horde — Orgrimmar: Go to the portal room and take the portal to Azsuna.
- Once in Azsuna, fly east to reach the floating city of Legion Dalaran.
The Azsuna portal takes you to the zone, not directly into Dalaran. The route is reported by Warcraft Tavern; portal availability and exact access can change, so check the live game if you do not see the portal.

Mages may have access to Teleport: Dalaran – Broken Isles for personal travel or Portal: Dalaran – Broken Isles to open a portal for a group. These are class spells, not general travel options, and require the character to have learned and be able to cast the relevant spell. The names and route are listed in Warcraft Tavern’s guide.

Which Dalaran do you mean?
World of Warcraft has a Wrath-era Dalaran in Northrend as well as Legion Dalaran in the Broken Isles. The Hearthstone, Azsuna route and Mage spell names above refer to the Legion city. If a quest sends you to Northrend, these directions may lead to the wrong version.
Why the city’s story can be confusing
Blizzard’s The War Within story timeline says Xal’atath destroyed Dalaran after a nerubian assault, with many people escaping and Khadgar seemingly lost. That is story chronology; it does not, by itself, establish that the legacy Legion-era location used for older content is inaccessible. For historical context, Blizzard described Dalaran as a Legion hub in its Legion class-hall overview and located the “Uniting the Isles” quest in Dalaran in its Legion World Quests guide.

Do you need a subscription to travel there?
Blizzard’s starter guide says a subscription or game time is needed to continue beyond level 20. That is a general game-access limit, not a special requirement for the Dalaran routes above.
