The MLB app is available on an LG Smart TV only if LG’s store lists it for your exact TV model and country. If it is not listed, US viewers can still watch MLB.TV in the ESPN app on supported LG models during the 2026 season, and existing MLB.TV subscribers can link their accounts to get that access. Viewers outside the US continue to stream MLB.TV through MLB directly.
Check whether the MLB app is available for your TV
LG Smart TVs do not all share the same app catalog. What you can install depends on the TV’s model, the country your TV is set to, and the webOS version the TV runs. Start there before you assume the app is missing for a technical reason.
- Press the Home button on your LG remote and open the LG Content Store.
- Search for MLB. If the MLB app appears, open its listing and read the requirements shown there.
- If the listing shows a webOS requirement, compare it with your TV’s version. You can find the version in the TV’s Settings menu, usually under General then About This TV. Menu labels vary slightly between webOS releases.
- If you are unsure whether your model and country are covered, use LG’s app lookup page, where you enter your country and TV model. LG says app offerings vary by both, so the lookup is the authoritative check.
Be cautious about general claims such as “every LG TV from a certain year works.” LG’s guidance does not support a blanket model-year rule, so a listing for your specific model and country is the only reliable confirmation.
If the MLB app is not listed: the ESPN route in the US
For US viewers, MLB’s 2026 MLB.TV page says the service can be streamed through the ESPN app. ESPN’s supported-device list includes LG TVs, so this is the main alternative when the MLB app is not in your TV’s store.

- Open the LG Content Store and search for ESPN.
- Install the app and confirm that your TV meets its requirements.
- Sign in with an ESPN account and look for MLB.TV content within the app.
ESPN notes that purchase is not available on every device. If your LG TV does not support in-app purchase, ESPN directs you to buy on its website instead.
Linking an existing MLB.TV subscription
If you already pay for MLB.TV directly through MLB, you do not need to buy the service a second time for the ESPN app. In MLB Account Management, use the option to activate MLB.TV on ESPN, then link your MLB and ESPN accounts. MLB’s help page states that linking gives you access across both apps.

Linking is only available to US subscribers in this setup. International subscribers keep using MLB’s own channels for MLB.TV.

Using a Roku player as a fallback
If neither the MLB app nor the ESPN app works on your LG TV, an external streaming player is an option. MLB’s device list for the ESPN route includes Roku, but that listing covers the platform rather than every model. Before buying, open the ESPN app listing on the exact Roku model you are considering. Do not buy hardware on the assumption that it will run the app; the TV you already own may be sufficient once you have checked the store.

Blackouts and what each app includes
MLB.TV streams are subject to game blackout restrictions. Out-of-market regular-season games can be unavailable depending on where you are and which teams play. This applies to the ESPN route as well as MLB’s own service.
Content is also split. MLB Network is available in the MLB app only, so viewers who want MLB Network should not expect the ESPN app to provide it.

Pricing and timing
MLB’s MLB.TV page listed a 2026 season plan at $149.99 and a monthly plan at $29.99 per month. Subscription prices change from year to year, so confirm current figures on MLB’s site before you subscribe. The 2026 regular season is scheduled to end in late September, so in October you may be looking at postseason access or preparing for the next season, and pricing for that season may differ.

- Confirm the country setting on the TV matches the market you are in. A mismatch can hide apps that are available elsewhere.
- Search the store again for the correct country and model using LG’s app lookup, rather than relying on a previous search result.
- Check the webOS version against the app listing. An app that is missing may simply need a newer or older TV software version than your set runs.
- If you are outside the US, MLB’s LG help center is the place to check support sections on requirements, getting started, navigation, and troubleshooting.
A missing app listing does not mean your TV is faulty. It usually reflects the store’s model and region coverage.
