To get started in GODDESS OF VICTORY: NIKKE, learn the Burst I → Burst II → Burst III chain, build a flexible five-Nikke squad around it, and push Normal Campaign stages while improving the parts of your account that are holding you back. Combat Power (CP) helps show your overall strength, but squad coverage, target choice, and encounter fit matter too.
How combat and Burst work
Hits fill the Burst gauge. Once it is full, your squad activates its Burst skills in sequence: Burst I, then Burst II, then Burst III. Activating Burst III starts Full Burst, a 10-second window in which the team’s damage and targeting become especially important. The gauge resets when Full Burst ends. Nikke.gg’s Team Building Guide, updated August 26, 2026, describes this sequence and timing.

During Full Burst, you can aim manually; in auto, the team follows the game’s targeting behavior, which may not select the best target for a particular fight. Manual aim can help focus a dangerous enemy or a boss part. Burst gauge generation depends on hits, and area attacks can generate more gauge per round when they hit multiple enemies.

Use the Burst chain as a starting framework, not a mandatory roster recipe. When your available characters allow it, a useful baseline is one Burst I, one Burst II, and two Burst III Nikkes, with the fifth slot chosen for the encounter. Two Burst III units can help sustain a 20-second Full Burst cycle because Burst III skills have 40-second cooldowns, according to Nikke.gg’s guide. Character skills, cooldown reduction, and stage mechanics may change what works best.

| Stage-specific utility | When a mechanic, target, or weapon-range constraint makes a particular skill or weapon more useful than another damage option. |
Weapon type and target range affect how comfortably a Nikke performs in an encounter. Consider whether the fight favors area coverage or concentrated damage, and whether your team’s weapons suit the enemies’ range. The same squad is not guaranteed to clear every stage, and some fights reward changing targets or aiming manually.
Factor in elemental matchups without over-prioritizing them
NIKKE has five elements: Fire, Wind, Iron, Electric, and Water. Nikke.gg’s guide describes a 10% damage advantage against a favorable element and 10% additional incoming damage when disadvantaged. Treat this as one consideration among squad strength, mechanics, weapon fit, and damage profile—not as a reason to rebuild your entire team before addressing a more significant weakness.

Make Normal Campaign your early progression path
Campaign clears provide rewards and raise your Outpost Defense level. Outpost Defense generates resources over time, so advancing the campaign can improve both immediate rewards and ongoing account income. The Nikke Beginner’s Guide, updated August 27, 2026, recommends campaign progress as a foundation for unlocking systems and building resources; Prydwen’s beginner guide, last updated January 1, 2026, also discusses campaign progression.
- Clear Normal Campaign stages while progress is practical. Collect their rewards and raise Outpost Defense.
- Find Lost Relic blueprints and complete available Tactics Academy lessons. The lessons that improve passive generation increase Outpost output.
- Unlock the Synchro Device at Campaign 4-15. Nikke.gg reports that the device synchronizes inserted Nikkes to the level baseline set by your five highest-level Nikkes. This makes more of your roster usable without independently leveling every unit.
- Invest in a small core group. Spend available leveling resources—Battle Data Sets, Credits, and Core Dust—where they address your current bottleneck. Levels, equipment, skills, limit breaks and cores, bonds, and later systems can all contribute to CP.
- Use side modes when they offer the resource you need. Simulation Room supplies skill books, Interception supplies gear, and Tribe Tower can provide resources. Outpost Defense continues generating resources between sessions.
Use CP to diagnose a stall, not to choose every move
CP summarizes several parts of your account, including levels, equipment, skills, limit breaks and cores, bond levels, and later progression systems. Fighting below a stage’s recommended CP can apply stat penalties, so a gap is a useful signal to check whether your team needs investment. But CP does not tell you whether you have the right Burst coverage, damage profile, target priority, or utility for the encounter.

When a stage stops you, identify the specific problem before spending resources. If enemies survive too long, look at damage and skills; if the squad falls before clearing, assess defensive utility or healing; if the Burst chain stalls, review your Burst coverage and cooldowns. Upgrade gear, skills, or levels only when the account can afford the investment and it addresses the obstacle you have identified.

- Burst uptime: Does the lineup cover Burst I, II, and III, and can it repeat Full Burst at the cadence your cooldowns support?
- Damage profile: Does this stage call for area damage against groups or stronger single-target damage against a boss?
- Survivability: Would healing, shielding, defense, or a relevant skill interaction solve the reason you are losing, or would another damage slot be more useful?
- Account resources: Is leveling, gear, skills, or another unlocked progression system the most affordable and relevant improvement?
- Element and range: Does the matchup or weapon range materially help in this fight? Consider it alongside the other factors rather than as the sole priority.
Character balance and systems can change. The cited guides are third-party editorial sources rather than official patch notes, so check their update dates and current in-game descriptions when making roster-specific decisions. The official NIKKE site provides a download page.
