Fortnite pets are called Sidekicks. You can get one when it is offered through the Item Shop or a current pass, then equip it in your Locker. Sidekicks are cosmetic companions: Epic says they provide no gameplay advantage and do not take damage. Their shop availability and prices can change, so check the in-game Item Shop for the current listing.
What Fortnite Sidekicks are—and where they work
Sidekicks accompany players and react to their surroundings. Epic describes them as friendly cosmetics, not combat helpers: they do not provide a gameplay advantage and cannot take damage. You can interact with them using Sidekick Emotes. Epic’s Sidekicks announcement introduced them on October 30, 2025; current behavior and compatibility details are in Epic’s Sidekicks support article.
Epic lists support in Battle Royale, Save the World, Festival (where the Sidekick stays backstage), LEGO Fortnite, and developer-made experiences. An island’s developer must enable Sidekicks for them to appear there, so support is not universal across every experience.
How to get a Sidekick
Sidekicks are digital cosmetics. Check the in-game Item Shop or the relevant current pass to see what is available to obtain now; shop listings rotate, and pass routes are tied to their specific release period.

Prices and examples
Official shop results have listed individual Sidekicks such as Kit, The Best Cat, Phantom Guffpup, Kitsune, and Spike at 1,200 V-Bucks. These are examples, not a universal price or a complete roster. A Spike listing showed a purchase window through October 12, 2026 at 12:00 AM local time, but that time-limited listing does not establish current availability for every item. Check the in-game shop for the live price and availability of the Sidekick you want; Epic’s listing also directs players to the in-game shop for a complete representation. See Epic’s Spike listing and the Fortnite Item Shop.
Original release routes (historical)
At launch, Epic said Peels would unlock through the Battle Pass on November 1, 2025, while Bonesy, Spike, and Lil’ Raptor would arrive in the Shop on November 7, 2025. Epic also said owners of the Bonesy Back Bling would receive the Bonesy Sidekick. These are dated launch details, not instructions for obtaining them now. Check the current pass or shop instead. Epic’s October 30, 2025 announcement documents those original routes.

How to customize a Sidekick
Some Sidekicks let you choose an appearance after obtaining them; others do not. When an appearance choice is offered, it is a one-time decision. Epic says the selected physical traits are permanent, so review the available options before locking one in. Its step-by-step instructions are in the Sidekick appearance support article.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- In the Locker, open Sidekicks and select the Sidekick you want to customize.
- Choose from that Sidekick’s available appearance options and proceed to the review screen.
- Check your selection carefully, then hold LOCK-IN to confirm it. The appearance cannot be changed after lock-in.
Epic does not allow duplicate appearances among your owned Sidekick customizations. Its support guidance says you can purchase the same Sidekick more than once and assign different appearances to those copies. Whether a specific Sidekick has appearance options is shown by its own description.

Change a Sidekick’s name
For a Sidekick that permits name changes, go to the Locker, select it, open the three-dot menu, choose Rename, enter a name or randomize one, and save. A Sidekick whose description says its appearance cannot be customized also cannot have its name or appearance changed. See Epic’s name-change instructions.
Accessories and Sidekick Points
Epic’s launch announcement says accessories can be changed at any time. It also describes earning cosmetics such as hats and hoodies with Sidekick Points by spending time together. These accessory changes are separate from the permanent appearance choice made during customization.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What to check before choosing one
- Current availability: Confirm that the Sidekick is offered now in the Item Shop or a current pass.
- Displayed price: Use the in-game listing rather than assuming every Sidekick costs the same amount.
- Customization: Read the specific Sidekick’s description to see whether appearance and name changes are available.
- Permanent choice: If appearance customization is offered, decide carefully before holding LOCK-IN.
- Where it appears: Sidekicks work only in supported experiences, and developer-made islands must enable them.
Epic’s published listings do not establish a complete, current roster or a full price list for every Sidekick. Treat shop examples as individual listings, not an exhaustive catalog.
