To get more fighter upgrade materials in The King of Fighters AFK, first identify the exact item required on a fighter’s upgrade screen, then use its in-game item details or rate information to find activities that currently award it. Compare those reward panels before spending limited attempts or currency: material sources, unlocks and rewards can differ, and no single activity is established as best for every resource.
Find the exact material and its listed sources
- Check the fighter’s upgrade screen. Note the item’s exact name and icon. “Upgrade materials” is too broad to identify a useful source.
- Open the item’s details or rate information. Netmarble’s official game guide advertises item-rate lookup. Use the in-game listing to see which sources currently name that particular item.
- Record any limits shown in game. Note remaining attempts or claims, unlock requirements, and whether the reward is guaranteed, tied to placement, or limited to an event.
The available official information does not establish a complete, current table of material-by-material quantities, attempt caps or expected yields. Use the live item and reward screens rather than relying on a general farming rate.
Choose activities by the reward panel
When more than one activity is available, compare the exact reward and what it costs to claim it. A useful source is not necessarily the one with the most impressive general rewards; it is the one that lists the material you need and fits your remaining attempts and progression.

- Check challenge rewards. Netmarble’s challenge-content tips describe rewards that include growth materials. World Boss Challenge rewards can depend on final placement, so check the reward rules and your likely eligibility rather than treating them as a fixed drop.
- Look at progression modes as they unlock. Netmarble has described Growth Dungeons and other progression modes in its first-anniversary announcement. Available stages and eligibility can depend on account progress and updates; inspect each mode’s current rewards.
- Claim missions and event rewards when they match. Review the in-game reward panel and current event notice. Event schedules and rewards may change, so do not assume a past event source or shop listing is still available.
Check limited rewards before spending attempts or currency
Before entering an activity or buying an item with a scarce currency, verify that its current reward panel names the material. Then weigh the cost against other listed sources and any remaining attempts. For rank- or placement-dependent challenges, distinguish the possible reward from a guaranteed one; for events, confirm dates and eligibility in the current notice. Netmarble’s event announcement illustrates why schedules and rewards should be checked as current information, not treated as permanent farming rules.

Recheck after updates and use conversion rules carefully
Progression sources and resource systems can change with updates. In its March 10, 2026 update notice, Netmarble described a system for unlinking eligible extra Fighter Cards for 10-star Fighters in exchange for rewards. The notice specifies Fighter Origin and, for Legendary Fighters, DNA. This is a conversion option, not a general material-farming route: check the current in-game rules and the notice’s irreversibility warning before using cards.
Optional purchases are not farming
Netmarble’s official web shop sells digital goods for a game-linked account and sends purchased items to the in-game mailbox. Treat this as an optional purchase route, not a way to earn materials through play; listings and availability can vary.
