You can get HBO Max through Hulu in either of two ways: add an HBO Max tier to an eligible Hulu plan, or subscribe to the Disney+, Hulu, and HBO Max bundle. Hulu includes most HBO Max programming, but some titles and app features require activating your HBO Max account and watching in the HBO Max app.
Choose between the Hulu add-on and the bundle
Pick the option based on which services you want and how you prefer to pay. The prices below are those Hulu listed on September 30, 2026; check your account before subscribing because prices and availability can change.

The add-on is a way to attach HBO Max to a Hulu subscription; the bundle includes Disney+ as well. Compare the total cost with the services and ad tiers your household will actually use. Hulu says bundle eligibility requirements apply, including for people who already subscribe to one or more of the services, and the bundle may not be available for purchase on every supported platform. Its page says U.S. residents and residents of certain U.S. territories must be at least 18 or the age of majority where they live to purchase. - Sign in at Hulu.com.
- Open Account → Your Subscription → Manage Add-ons.
- Select the HBO Max tier you want.
- Review the plan change and confirm it.
If another company bills your Hulu subscription, you may need to make changes through that billing partner, and the available add-ons can differ. Hulu’s subscription-management instructions explain how to manage plans.
Subscribe to the Disney+, Hulu, HBO Max bundle
Choose the bundle through an available Hulu sign-up route, then follow the activation instructions for the account and biller you used. If you buy the bundle through DisneyPlus.com and are new to Hulu, Hulu says to activate Hulu from the signup link or go to Disney+ Account → Billing Details → Watch Now next to Hulu, then create the Hulu account. Already paying separately for Hulu, Disney+, or HBO Max? Hulu notes that additional eligibility rules apply, but the applicable steps depend on your existing accounts and billing arrangements. Check the current account guidance or contact the relevant service before switching; do not assume that starting a bundle automatically ends a separate subscription.

To use HBO Max outside Hulu, connect the app to your Hulu subscription:

- Open the HBO Max app and choose Sign in → Connect Your Provider → Hulu.
- Enter the Hulu account credentials associated with the subscription.
- Create a Max profile when prompted. Hulu describes profile creation as a one-time step.
On mobile, if Hulu is not immediately listed among providers, scroll down to Other TV Provider. Hulu’s provider sign-in instructions cover the flow.
Find HBO Max shows in Hulu
In Hulu, search for HBO Max to open its page, or search for a specific program by title. Hulu carries most HBO Max content, but some offerings are available only in the HBO Max app. If a title is missing from Hulu, activate the HBO Max account and use the provider sign-in steps above.

The bundle does not combine the services into one app. Hulu’s guidance is explicit: “No, subscribers will need to download each app separately.” Install and use the Hulu, Disney+, and HBO Max apps as needed. See Hulu’s bundle viewing guidance.
Check billing before changing subscriptions
In Hulu, look under Payment Information to see who bills the subscription. If a third party is the biller, use that provider’s instructions for plan changes. Before adding or switching plans, review your separate bills and subscriptions: Hulu’s cancellation guidance describes situations in which an original or third-party subscription may continue billing after a bundle change or cancellation.

Check device compatibility
Hulu lists Roku players, TVs, and streaming sticks, as well as Hulu.com, Apple TV (4th generation or later), Chromecast, Fire TV and Fire Stick, recent game consoles, and several smart TV platforms as supporting premium add-on programming in Hulu. Exact support depends on the device and model. Hulu says HBO Max content is unavailable through Hulu on first-generation Fire TV Stick, Echo Show 8 and 10, and devices running Android OS 5, 6, 7.0, or Fire OS 5.
Check Hulu’s current supported-device list and the bundle device notes if playback fails. A streaming device is only necessary if you do not already have compatible hardware.
