How do you get into the volcano?
Prepare a flying pet
Bring a flying pet to reach Volcano Island and navigate the route. One guide recommends Phoenix or a better flying pet, but no source establishes Phoenix as mandatory or gives a tested universal minimum mount speed. If your current pet cannot make the trip, use a faster or flying option available to you rather than treating a particular pet as a confirmed requirement.

Find the side entrance and descend
- Travel beyond the Desert to Volcano Island.
- Look for a small opening in the volcano’s side and enter it. A bare instruction to go to the “right side” can be misleading because that depends on your viewpoint; use the visible opening as your landmark.
- Follow the passages down to Dragon’s Lair, where guides place the Volcanic Egg.
The summit crater is a separate Magma activity, not the Dragon’s Lair egg pickup area. If your goal is the egg, continue through the side passage instead of stopping at the crater.
How do you hatch the egg at your ranch?
- Before collecting the egg, pay attention to how you will retrace the passages back out. The guides describe the route down, but a confident return path matters because the egg has to get back to your ranch.
- Return to your ranch, also called My Plot in the beginner guide, and put the egg in an available nest.
- Allow the egg’s ordinary growth process to finish, then use the hatch interaction. The beginner guide notes that the game may prompt you to dismount before hatching.
- Check the resulting pet in your Pets list to see whether the hatch produced Griffin.
Ride A Pet Editorial’s beginner guide describes the basic search loop this way: “Start by riding a pet, checking Track, and using a radar to find an egg.” That guidance covers finding eggs generally; the volcano route above is the reported route for reaching this particular egg.
