Players can get Celebi as a gift in the mobile version of Pokémon HOME by completing the Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version Pokédex. The Pokémon Company has confirmed the reward and a Pokémon HOME connection launch in October 2026, but its announcement does not specify October 7. That exact date appears in a secondary distribution listing, so it is not confirmed by the official announcement.

When does the FireRed and LeafGreen Celebi reward start?

The Pokémon Company announced on August 13, 2026 that Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version for Nintendo Switch will connect with Pokémon HOME beginning in October 2026. The company also confirmed that players who complete the games’ Pokédex can receive Celebi as a gift in Pokémon HOME’s mobile app. Its announcement does not give an exact October day. Read The Pokémon Company’s announcement.

Bulbapedia’s distribution listing reports October 7, following Pokémon HOME version 4.1.0, as the date. Treat that as a secondary-source date rather than an exact date confirmed by The Pokémon Company. See the 2026 distribution listing.

How to qualify for Celebi

  1. Complete the Pokédex in FireRed and LeafGreen. The reward is tied to completing the Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version Pokédex.
  2. Connect the game with Pokémon HOME when the connection becomes available. The Pokémon Company says Pokémon registered in either game will be registered in HOME’s Pokédex once the services connect.
  3. Claim the gift in the mobile version of Pokémon HOME. Celebi is delivered as a HOME gift; the announcement describes it as a mobile-app reward.

The official announcement says “completing” the FireRed and LeafGreen Pokédex, but does not provide more detailed eligibility rules for edge cases. It also suggests using Pokémon HOME’s GTS as one way to fill Pokédex entries.

Do you have to transfer Pokémon out of the games?

No. Pokédex registration and transferring an individual Pokémon are separate actions. The announced process registers Pokémon from FireRed or LeafGreen in HOME’s Pokédex after linking; it does not say that you must move those Pokémon into HOME to qualify for Celebi.

Be careful if you do choose to transfer a Pokémon: a Pokémon moved from FireRed or LeafGreen into Pokémon HOME cannot be returned to either game. Pokémon from other games also cannot be moved into FireRed or LeafGreen. Check the official Pokémon HOME update notice before moving a Pokémon you want to keep in its original game.

What versions of FireRed and LeafGreen are involved?

Nintendo describes the Switch releases as digital-only, individually available in English, French, or Spanish through My Nintendo Store and Nintendo eShop. Nintendo’s release announcement covers availability and language options. The Celebi reward itself is delivered through the mobile version of Pokémon HOME.

Other Pokémon HOME changes announced for October

The October 2026 HOME update is also planned to raise Premium Plan storage from 6,000 to 9,000 Pokémon without changing the Premium Plan price, according to The Pokémon Company. This storage change is separate from the FireRed and LeafGreen Celebi qualification. The company’s update announcement includes the storage details.

The same announcement says Pokémon Bank service, including transfers from Bank to HOME, will end on February 25, 2027 at 7:00 p.m. PST. That is a separate deadline, not a requirement for this Celebi gift. Players who want to preserve Pokémon in Bank should move them before service ends.
