To improve in Tower of Fantasy, work on armor and matrices as separate but complementary upgrades: enhance armor slots for stronger fixed stats, fuse only armor with useful random stats, and equip matrices that support the weapons and set effects you actually use. Farm from activities whose reward previews match your needs, since exact drops can change with updates.
Improve armor by upgrading the slot and evaluating each piece
Armor adds passive combat stats. The Tower of Fantasy Index armor guide lists dungeons and shops as acquisition routes and distinguishes fixed stats from random bonus stats. Check both before committing resources to a piece.
Enhancement raises fixed stats
Enhancement increases fixed stats for an armor slot. It costs Gold and Enhancement Modules; Superior Modules are needed at breakthrough levels. Every +5 milestone grants additional stats when the relevant pieces reach that milestone, and your character level limits how far equipment can be enhanced.
The guide says enhancement carries over when you replace armor, so it is generally the safer investment to make before deciding whether a specific piece deserves fusion. Take care not to dismantle the currently enhanced item before replacing it.

Fusion improves a piece’s random bonus stats
Fusion, also called advancement in some older references, adds stars and improves one random bonus stat per star. Rarity determines the star ceiling. Compare the random-stat lines and values with your build before investing: the guide says fused stars do not fully transfer to a replacement piece.
Build matrix sets around the weapons you use
Matrices are attachments fitted to weapons. Each weapon has four matrix slots; matrices provide passive stats, and set effects generally apply while you use the weapon carrying them. Slot compatibility matters, as different slots can provide somewhat different passive stats. Leveling improves matrix stats, while stars strengthen set-effect values. When choosing between matrices, check whether they fit the slots, whether their set effect benefits your build, which weapon will carry them, and what it will cost to upgrade them. There is no established universal best set or current damage ranking in the cited references, so a recommendation depends on your weapons, element, game mode, and inventory. In practice, completing a useful effect can be more valuable than chasing a marginal upgrade that does not improve your active build.
Farm using current reward previews
General system references list dungeons and shops for armor. For matrices, they include banners, Joint Operations, world bosses, a home-island shop, and Void Rifts. These are broad source categories, not a guarantee that a particular activity currently drops a named item or has the same reward table in version 6.3. Check the in-game reward preview before spending limited activity energy or keys.
Check permanent Choice Matrices availability in your client
The official version 6.3 announcement, published September 10, 2026, said Gray Fox Matrices would be added to the permanent Choice Matrices special order after the update scheduled for September 15, 2026. The version 6.2 announcement, published July 30, 2026, similarly said Asurada Matrices would be added after its August 4, 2026 update. These announcements establish the planned additions, not that a particular order is available on every server or platform today. Verify the banner in your current client before spending.
