How teachers and students apply
- Create a Basecamp account first. The discount page says to sign up before requesting the offer.
- Send the required information from a school email account. Teachers should email teachers@basecamp.com with the school name, class taught, and proof of teaching. Students should email students@basecamp.com with the school name, what they are studying, and expected graduation date.
- Wait for verification. Basecamp says it applies the discount after verifying the information.

Homeschool eligibility is worded differently across Basecamp’s pages
The pricing FAQ includes homeschoolers among education accounts eligible for free class-work use and mentions homeschool parents in its instructions. The dedicated discount page names K-12 schools and universities but does not mention homeschoolers. If you homeschool, ask Basecamp to confirm your eligibility and documentation before choosing a plan or assuming an account will be free. The two pages are the pricing FAQ and discount page.
Important limits before you apply
- One account only: Basecamp says it can discount one account.
- No retroactive savings: Payments made before the discount begins will not be refunded or discounted.
- Program availability can change: Basecamp reserves the right to stop accepting new free or discounted accounts. It says existing recipients would continue receiving their discounts if new applications are stopped.
