You can bring the effective cost of Apple’s $1,999.99 iPhone Duo down to about $799.99 through AT&T, but only if you qualify for its maximum $1,200 trade-in offer and receive all 36 monthly bill credits. It is not an $800 checkout price: you finance the phone, meet AT&T’s plan and trade-in requirements, and keep eligible service long enough to collect the credits.
How the $800 iPhone Duo price works
AT&T’s maximum trade-in offer subtracts up to $1,200 from the device cost through monthly credits. Using AT&T’s $1,999.99 installment price, the arithmetic is $1,999.99 − $1,200 = $799.99 before taxes and fees. That is the phone’s effective cost after all credits—not the amount due at checkout. AT&T’s offer terms say credits begin within three bills and are spread across 36 monthly bills.
The maximum is conditional. AT&T requires an eligible smartphone trade-in worth at least $230, a qualifying installment purchase financing at least $1,999.99, activation on its Premium 2.0 plan, and well-qualified customer status. AT&T states a minimum Premium 2.0 price of $100 per month before discounts, plus taxes and fees. The plan and device commitment matter: compare the service cost over 36 months with the value of the credits, rather than judging the deal by the phone’s net figure alone.

- An eligible trade-in: The smartphone must meet AT&T’s eligibility rules and have a minimum trade-in value of $230 for the maximum offer path.
- Qualifying financing: Buy the phone on an eligible installment agreement and finance at least $1,999.99.
- Premium 2.0 service: AT&T lists a $100 monthly minimum before discounts, taxes, and fees.
- Well-qualified status: AT&T’s terms make the maximum offer subject to customer qualification.
- 36 months of eligible service: Keep the qualifying line active to receive all monthly credits. If you cancel service, the credits stop and the remaining device balance becomes due.
AT&T also lists a $35 activation or upgrade fee. Taxes, other fees and charges, restrictions, and offer terms apply. Check the final offer details for your device and account before ordering, since the carrier says terms may change. See AT&T’s offer conditions.

How to get the trade-in offer
- Check your trade-in first. Confirm that your current smartphone is eligible and meets the $230 minimum trade-in value condition for the maximum credit.
- Confirm the plan and qualification. Verify that you can activate on Premium 2.0 and qualify for the offer, then account for the plan’s monthly price, taxes, and fees.
- Order the iPhone Duo on installments. AT&T’s published price is $1,999.99, and the qualifying purchase must finance at least that amount.
- Complete the trade-in and monitor bills. The credits should begin within three bills and continue monthly over 36 bills. Review the bill credits and retain your offer documentation.
Don’t confuse the $800 switcher reward with a phone discount
AT&T separately offers a reward card of up to $800 per line, based on the unpaid balance on a smartphone from a competing provider. This offer requires porting a new line and eligible postpaid service; the customer must submit a recent bill within 60 days. AT&T says the card arrives within 8–10 weeks and the offer is limited to up to 10 lines. It helps pay an old phone balance—it does not lower the iPhone Duo’s retail price.
AT&T also advertises up to $200 in online-only credits for eligible new lines. The terms specify a new voice-and-data line, an eligible plan, and 36 months of continued service to receive all credits. The published terms do not establish that this offer, the trade-in credits, and the switcher reward can all be combined for one purchase. Do not count them together as guaranteed savings; confirm the exact combination in the checkout terms.

iPhone Duo pricing and alternatives
Apple announced iPhone Duo on September 9, 2026. In the United States, preorders begin October 16 at 5 a.m. PT, with availability beginning October 23. Apple’s listed prices are:
| iPhone Duo storage | Apple U.S. listed price |
|---|---|
| 256GB | $1,999 |
| 512GB | $2,199 |
| 1TB | $2,599 |
| 2TB | $3,199 |
AT&T’s $1,999.99 installment price is the figure used for the $799.99 effective-cost calculation; Apple’s base-model list price is $1,999. If you buy the base model directly from Apple using Apple Card Monthly Installments, Apple lists payments of $83.29 per month for 24 months for qualified customers. That is a separate financing arrangement, not AT&T’s 36-month trade-in promotion.

Apple lists the iPhone 18 Pro from $1,199. The Duo’s foldable design has a 7.6-inch inner display and a 5.4-inch outer display, while Apple describes the 18 Pro as a conventional design with a three-camera Pro system that includes telephoto and variable aperture. The relevant trade-off is whether the foldable screen and form factor justify the higher starting price—and whether you are comfortable with a long carrier-credit commitment to lower its effective cost. These are Apple’s product descriptions, not independent test findings. Apple’s announcement and Apple’s store listings provide product and price details.
