To get a Singaporean IP address while outside Singapore, connect to a VPN server in Singapore. Websites will generally see the VPN server’s public IP address instead of your usual one. Choose a reputable provider, select Singapore in its app, connect, and check the resulting public IP. The VPN must remain connected for your traffic to use that route.
How a Singapore VPN connection changes your IP
A VPN creates an encrypted connection, or tunnel, between your device and a VPN server. When that server is in Singapore, websites generally see the server’s public IP as the source of your connection rather than your ordinary public IP. Singapore’s GovTech explains the server-selection and IP-masking process in its VPN guidance.
This changes the IP address websites see; it does not make you anonymous. The VPN provider becomes an intermediary, and traffic leaving its server is no longer protected by the VPN tunnel in the same way.

Connect to a Singapore server
- Choose a provider. Confirm that Singapore is currently selectable in the provider’s service or app. A provider’s server-location page is a vendor claim, not independent proof of performance. For example, Windscribe advertises Singapore servers; verify current availability before signing up.
- Download the app safely. Get it from the provider’s official website or an official app store. Singapore’s Cyber Security Agency (CSA) advises choosing reputable providers and official download sources in its VPN security guidance.
- Select Singapore and connect. Open the app, choose Singapore as the location, and connect. Wait for the app to show that the VPN is active before using the connection.
- Check your public IP. Use a reputable IP-checking service to see the address and its reported location. Geolocation databases can disagree, so one check cannot guarantee that every website will identify the connection as Singaporean.
- Keep the VPN connected. Traffic uses the VPN route only while the connection is active. When you disconnect, your device returns to its ordinary internet path.
Choose a provider for your needs
There is no supported basis here for ranking providers or naming a fastest option. Compare the specific features that affect your use, and verify them in the provider’s current app, policy, and documentation.

- Singapore endpoint: Check that Singapore is available in the app and whether the provider describes the location as physical or virtual. The sources cited here do not independently establish server type.
- Privacy and logging: Read the privacy policy and terms to understand what information the provider collects and retains. CSA notes that VPN policies may allow activity logging or collection of user information; a VPN shifts trust to the provider rather than eliminating it.
- Security and transparency: Look for a reputable operator, maintained software, clear security documentation, and any independently published audit material. GovTech also recommends checking privacy policies, security controls, and transparency.
- Leak protection and device support: Verify support for your operating system and check whether the service documents a kill switch and DNS leak controls. Do not assume these features are included.
- Speed and intended use: Distance, congestion, protocol, and routing affect performance. No comparative speed tests are available here, so a particular provider cannot be called the fastest.
- Streaming and account access: A Singapore IP may help with a region-specific service, but it does not guarantee access. A service may block VPN traffic or apply separate account, payment, or licensing restrictions.
Understand the privacy, safety, and legal limits
A VPN encrypts traffic between your device and the VPN server and masks your device’s public IP from websites. It does not protect against every threat or guarantee anonymity. The provider handles traffic that leaves its server, and CSA warns that the VPN server can itself become a point of failure if compromised or misconfigured.
Avoid unknown “free VPN” installers. CSA warns that malicious actors have disguised malware as free VPN services, and recommends careful provider selection and official download sources. This is a reason to assess a provider, not evidence that every free VPN is malicious.

GovTech says personal VPN use is generally legal in Singapore. Using a VPN does not make otherwise illegal activity lawful, and organizational policies or a service’s terms may impose additional restrictions.
Advanced alternative: connect to a Singapore home VPN
If you already have a Singapore home internet connection, you may be able to configure a compatible home router as a VPN server and connect back to it while traveling. In that setup, your home connection would likely supply the public IP seen by websites. This is an inference from the router’s documented VPN-server function and GovTech’s explanation of how the VPN server’s location affects the apparent IP.

The TP-Link Archer BE805 manual documents VPN server and client configuration. This route requires a Singapore home connection, compatible router configuration, and router and ISP support for inbound remote access. It is more technical than using a commercial VPN app and is not a practical option if you do not have a Singapore home connection.
