To get an IP address that appears to be in Nepal while you are abroad, connect to a VPN server location in Nepal. Install a VPN app, choose Nepal from its location list, and connect. Providers describe this as making your browsing appear to come from Nepal, but that does not guarantee that every website or geolocation database will identify the connection the same way.
What a Nepalese IP address means
An IP address is a numerical label assigned to a device on an Internet Protocol network, as described in the Nepal Telecommunications Authority’s 2025 IPv6 consultation paper. When people ask for a “Nepalese IP,” they usually mean an outward-facing address that a website or geolocation service associates with Nepal—not necessarily an address assigned to their device by a Nepalese internet provider.
A VPN routes your connection through a server in the selected location, so destination services see the VPN’s outward-facing address. Whether a particular site classifies that address as Nepalese depends on its own systems and data.

- Check the provider’s current location list. Choose a VPN whose app currently offers Nepal. Proton VPN says users can select Nepal from its map or server list, and ExpressVPN’s Nepal instructions say to select Nepal in the app’s server list. Locations can change, so check the app before subscribing or installing.
- Install the app for your device. Download it from the VPN provider’s official website or your device’s app store. Proton lists support for macOS, Windows, iOS, Android, Linux, Chromebook, and other platforms on its Nepal location page. Device support and included features may vary by plan.
- Sign in if prompted, then choose Nepal. Open the app and select Nepal from its map or location list. The precise layout depends on the app version.
- Connect and check the result. Once the app says it is connected, visit the site or service you intended to use and see what location it reports. Proton VPN and ExpressVPN advertise that connecting to Nepal makes browsing appear to come from there; neither claim guarantees that every destination will recognize the address as Nepalese.
VPN providers with Nepal setup instructions
These providers publish direct instructions for connecting through Nepal. The instructions establish that each advertises a Nepal location; they are not independent tests of location accuracy, speed, privacy, or access to particular websites.

The available setup instructions do not establish which provider is faster from your location or more likely to work with a particular service. Compare current device support, plan requirements, privacy policies, independent audits, support options, connection performance from where you are, price, and refund terms before choosing.
If a website still shows another country
A VPN connection and a website’s location result are not the same thing. If a site continues to show a different country, disconnect and reconnect to the Nepal location, then check the location result again. The provider instructions do not offer an authoritative test procedure or guarantee that this will resolve a mismatch.

Even when a site associates an IP with Nepal, it may use other signals or apply separate access rules. A Nepal VPN location therefore does not guarantee access to any particular streaming service, bank, or other geo-restricted site, and it should not be treated as a way around that service’s restrictions.

The Nepal Telecommunications Authority homepage lists a notice concerning use of free VPNs, but the notice’s title alone does not establish what rules apply. Proton VPN states that VPN use is legal in Nepal, but that is a vendor statement rather than an authoritative legal determination. The sources available here do not establish a definitive current legal position; consult applicable official notices and law for your circumstances.

Nepal Telecom’s company background page describes Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited and its nationwide service history. It does not establish that a consumer abroad can obtain a public static IP from the company, so it is not evidence that an ISP-issued address is a practical alternative to a VPN.
