To get an IP address that appears to be in Guinea, use a VPN whose current server list includes Guinea, connect to that location, and check the assigned public IP with a geolocation lookup. Proton VPN says Guinea is available to paid-plan users, but that is the provider’s claim—not an independent test or a guarantee that a particular site will accept the connection.
How to connect to a Guinea VPN location
- Check availability and plan eligibility. Search the provider’s current server or location list for Guinea and confirm that the plan you intend to use includes it. A country page or a location displayed in search results is not proof that the location is available in your app. Proton VPN’s guidance says its paid-plan users can select Guinea, while its free plan does not include that location. See Proton VPN’s Guinea server information.
- Install the app and connect. Install the provider’s app on the phone or computer you already use, sign in, and select Guinea from the country list. Proton VPN lists apps for common desktop and mobile systems; exact app availability and location selection can depend on the provider and plan.
- Check the assigned IP. After connecting, visit an IP geolocation lookup such as IPinfo and confirm that the reported country is Guinea. IPinfo describes geolocation as identifying the real-world location associated with an IP address. This check tells you how the lookup classifies the address, not how every website will classify it.
- If the result is wrong or a site refuses the connection, disconnect and reconnect, try another Guinea endpoint if the provider offers one, or ask the provider to confirm the location and plan eligibility. These are troubleshooting options, not a guarantee of access.
What a “Guinea server” actually means
A VPN location label and the physical location of the server carrying your traffic are not always the same. Some providers use virtual locations: the VPN assigns an IP associated with the selected country even though the physical server is in another country. Private Internet Access describes this arrangement and gives Hong Kong routed through a physical server in Singapore as an example; see its VPN server information.
So distinguish between an IP address that geolocation tools associate with Guinea and hardware physically hosted in Guinea. If physical location matters to you, check the provider’s disclosure rather than relying on the country label alone.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsWill a Guinean IP let you use a particular website?
Not necessarily. A Guinea IP may make an IP-based check treat your connection as originating in Guinea, but each streaming, banking, government, or other service sets its own regional, account, eligibility, and fraud rules. A geolocation lookup does not establish that a named service will accept the address, and the information available here does not confirm access to any Guinea-only service.

How to choose a VPN for a Guinea IP
- Current Guinea availability: Confirm that Guinea appears in the provider’s current app or server list and is included in the plan you are considering.
- Virtual or physical location: Check whether the provider explains where its Guinea location is physically hosted if that distinction matters.
- Device support: Make sure the provider has an app for your existing phone or computer and that the app lets you select the required country.
- Verification and service acceptance: Use an IP lookup to check the apparent country, then test whether the service you need accepts the connection. Neither step guarantees the other.
There is no basis here to rank providers by current speed, uptime, price, or successful access to Guinea-specific services. Proton VPN’s statement about Guinea availability is useful for identifying a possible option, but it should not be read as an independent performance or access evaluation.
Is VPN use legal in Guinea?
Available provider claims conflict: Proton VPN says a 2021 Guinean cybercrime law expressly criminalizes VPN and anonymizing-tool use, while CometVPN says VPNs are completely legal. Neither provider statement settles the legal question. The published text of Guinea’s Law L/2016/037/AN is titled as a law on cybersecurity and personal-data protection. Article 57 addresses failure to respect a prohibition on acting as a cryptology service provider or an obligation to withdraw cryptology means; the text does not say that ordinary VPN use is categorically illegal, nor does it establish that every form of VPN use is categorically legal. The law text is from 2016, and its current enforcement and application of its cryptology provisions to VPN services are not established here. Read the published text of Law L/2016/037/AN and seek qualified local legal advice if the consequences matter to you.
