There is no reliable universal rate for how much an always-on YouTube channel earns from Super Chats. Build a forecast from your own confirmed Super Chat and Super Sticker revenue, the eligible public live hours that produced it, and the audience patterns you expect. Treat the result as an estimate—not a promised payout.
What to count as Super Chat income
Super Chats and Super Stickers are viewer purchases that highlight messages or images in live chat. They are available only to channels and streams that meet YouTube’s eligibility and feature requirements. For an always-on channel, count confirmed Supers revenue in YouTube Analytics—not total channel revenue, total live-stream revenue, or a general revenue-per-view figure.
YouTube says creators receive 70% of Supers revenue confirmed by Google, calculated after local sales tax and iOS App Store fees are deducted. YouTube currently covers transaction costs, including credit-card fees. This is the documented share of confirmed Supers revenue; it does not mean a creator receives 70% of every displayed purchase price in every geography or payment flow. The channel’s agreement and Studio-reported revenue are the practical references. YouTube’s Super Chat and Super Stickers guidance explains the share.

Check whether your channel and streams are eligible
Before forecasting, confirm that the feature is available to your channel. YouTube lists requirements including being at least 18, living in a supported country or region, and accepting the Commerce Product Module or its former addendum. Supers require live chat to be enabled on eligible live streams and Premieres. YouTube Studio shows the channel’s current status; eligibility and availability can vary by region and over time.

YouTube’s expanded YouTube Partner Program eligibility page lists, for specified fan-funding features, 500 subscribers, three public uploads in the last 90 days, and either 3,000 qualified public watch hours in the previous 365 days or 3 million qualified Shorts views in the previous 90 days, subject to other requirements. Those thresholds do not by themselves guarantee that Supers are enabled for a particular channel. Check YouTube’s current expanded YPP requirements and your Studio feature access.
A Super Chat or Super Sticker removed for violating YouTube policies may affect the distribution of revenue: YouTube says it may donate its portion to charity. Account for policy compliance and the confirmed amounts shown in Analytics rather than assuming every purchase remains payable.
Find confirmed Supers revenue in YouTube Analytics
- Open YouTube Studio for the channel and go to Analytics.
- Open the Revenue tab, then look under How you make money for Supers revenue.
- Choose a date range and record the confirmed Supers revenue for that period.
- For the same dates, record eligible public live hours. Keep the date range and definition of eligible hours consistent across periods.
YouTube identifies Analytics → Revenue → How you make money as the place to review Supers reporting. See YouTube’s Analytics revenue guidance. If the report and another accounting record differ, use Studio’s confirmed Supers reporting as the platform-specific reference and reconcile the dates and revenue status.

Historical creator Supers revenue per live hour = confirmed creator Supers revenue ÷ eligible public live hours
Then estimate a future period:
Projected creator Supers revenue = historical revenue per live hour × planned eligible live hours
For example, if a channel recorded $240 in confirmed Supers revenue over 600 eligible public live hours, its observed rate for that period is $0.40 per eligible live hour. If it plans 500 eligible hours in a comparable period, the simple projection is $200. These figures illustrate the calculation only; they are not a benchmark or forecast for other channels.

Build low, base, and high scenarios
A single average can conceal volatility. Calculate the hourly baseline for several comparable windows, such as recent weeks and a longer seasonal view, then use the channel’s own observed low, typical, and high periods to construct scenarios. Multiply each scenario’s rate by the planned eligible hours. Label the assumptions and date ranges so readers of the forecast can tell what the estimates represent.

Separate formats or schedules when purchase behavior differs. An ambient or music feed, a host-led program, and a scheduled event may attract different audiences and generate very different Supers results. Compare like with like rather than averaging unlike formats into one rate.
- Low case: use a lower rate observed in a comparable period and a conservative estimate of eligible hours.
- Base case: use a representative rate from comparable periods and the planned schedule.
- High case: use a stronger rate the channel has actually observed, while noting whether it depended on an unusual event or large purchase.
Check whether a small number of unusually large purchases account for much of a period’s total. If so, the average rate may not describe a typical hour; show that concentration as a risk in the forecast rather than assuming those purchases recur.

You can apply that rate to expected audience-hours as an alternate scenario. State how audience-hours were measured and which periods and formats they cover. This is a planning model, not a causal guarantee: more audience-hours do not ensure a particular amount of Supers revenue.

YouTube defines RPM as revenue after YouTube’s share per 1,000 views and says it can include ads, YouTube Premium, memberships, Super Chat, and Super Stickers. Because RPM blends revenue types, it cannot isolate Super Chat income. For a Supers forecast, use the Supers figure in Analytics directly. Read YouTube’s explanation of RPM and revenue metrics.
What an always-on schedule changes—and what it does not
More eligible live hours give a channel more hours in which viewers can encounter live chat, but hours alone do not establish an earnings rate. Audience size and behavior, program format, schedule, seasonality, and the timing of unusually large purchases can all affect the observed result. There is no official universal YouTube benchmark for Supers revenue per viewer, per hour, or always-on channel; use your channel’s own reporting and describe the uncertainty.

Keep the forecast honest
YouTube’s partner agreement does not guarantee how much or whether a creator will be paid. Its own wording is: “There are no guarantees under the YouTube partner agreement about how much or whether you’ll be paid.” Use the forecast for planning, revisit it as new Studio results arrive, and do not present an estimate as expected or guaranteed income.
