For live scores and pitch-by-pitch updates, start with MLB Gameday in a web browser or the MLB app. MLB describes Gameday as a free way to follow live games, with live box scores, a play feed, highlights, and pitch-by-pitch data. ESPN’s MLB scoreboard is another option, with links to Gamecast, box scores, and play-by-play.
Follow a game in MLB Gameday
- Open MLB Gameday in a browser or the MLB app for iOS or Android.
- Select the game you want to follow. For a playoff game, check the service’s current live schedule; the available product information does not specifically confirm postseason coverage or explain postseason access terms.
- Use the score and live box score to track the game state and team and player statistics.
- Open the pitch-by-pitch view and detailed play feed to follow the sequence of pitches and read descriptions of completed plays. Gameday also lists highlights.
Use ESPN as an alternative scoreboard
ESPN’s MLB scoreboard lists links for Gamecast, box score, and play-by-play. Choose the game listing and open the view you want. These are alternative ways to follow a game; the available information does not establish that ESPN’s coverage is identical to MLB Gameday’s.
Score updates are not live video
Gameday’s documented features support following a game through scores, statistics, pitch data, and play descriptions. That is different from watching the broadcast. The available information does not establish current postseason video rights, MLB.TV prices or subscription requirements, regional availability, or a measured delay for score updates. Check the chosen service’s current schedule and access terms if you need postseason video or want to confirm a specific game is listed.
