World of Warcraft: Forever Beta is a separate game version in Battle.net, and access is tied to the Battle.net account’s beta license. Before troubleshooting a download or connection, confirm that the license is on the account you signed into and select “World of Warcraft: Forever Beta” under “In Development.” Then check Blizzard’s realm status before changing local network or security settings.
Blizzard announced the beta on September 17, 2026, and said it would be available through October 21, 2026. That window can change, so check Blizzard’s current announcement for the latest access and availability details.
1. Confirm your account has beta access
Sign in to the Battle.net account that should have access, then check Your Game Accounts for a World of Warcraft: Forever beta license. Blizzard says selected players who opted in are flagged for access, and eligible digital bundle purchasers also receive beta access. A purchase is not a technical fix: verify the license and current eligibility details rather than buying something to troubleshoot.

Do not treat an invitation email or its links as proof of access; check the license by signing in to Battle.net directly. If access was just granted, Blizzard says it can take up to 30 minutes to appear. Once that time has passed, restart the Battle.net desktop app and check again.

2. Select the Forever Beta client in Battle.net
The beta is not the same client as Retail, Classic Era, or another World of Warcraft version. In the Battle.net desktop app, use this path:
- Select World of Warcraft.
- Open the Game Version dropdown.
- Under In Development, choose World of Warcraft: Forever Beta.
- Select Install. After installation, select Play and choose an available test realm.
If the Forever Beta option is missing, return to the account-license check first. Blizzard’s general World of Warcraft installation guidance also emphasizes choosing the intended game version.

3. If Battle.net offers Install for an existing folder
If you already have a game folder and the app appears ready to download everything again, use Locate the game and point Battle.net to the correct folder. Blizzard describes this as a way to connect the app to an existing installation. It is general World of Warcraft guidance, not a guaranteed fix for every Forever Beta version or folder mismatch.
If you see the message “This folder doesn’t contain the correct version of the game,” recheck that the selected version is Forever Beta and that the folder belongs to that client. Avoid unofficial installers or copied executable launch commands; Blizzard’s announced installation route is through Battle.net.

4. Restart and update before trying broader fixes
For a launcher that will not open, repeatedly updates, or stalls during installation, begin with Blizzard’s general troubleshooting basics:
- Restart the computer, then open Battle.net again.
- Check that the internet connection is working and optimize it if needed.
- Make sure security software permits Battle.net and the game to connect.
- Ensure the Battle.net app is updated. Blizzard also advises keeping graphics drivers current.
- If the earlier steps fail, reinstall the Battle.net app.
Before applying a broad fix, search Blizzard Support for the exact error message or code: specific errors may have their own instructions. Blizzard’s general installation and update troubleshooting lists the steps above, but they are not a confirmed solution to every Forever Beta problem.

5. Check realm availability before changing your network
For “No Realms available,” disconnections, or trouble entering the game, check Blizzard’s Realm Status page first. It lists realm availability and indicates when Blizzard is aware of listed realm outages. If the realm is unavailable, changing settings on your computer is unlikely to address that service-side condition; check again later.
When realms appear available, continue with Blizzard’s Common Technical Issues and Solutions resource, which the beta announcement recommends for installation or operating issues. The information available does not establish one universal cause or fix for Forever-specific queues, latency, disconnects, or “No Realms available” reports.

6. Separate a local Wi-Fi issue from an account or service problem
If instability seems limited to your wireless connection, try a wired connection as a diagnostic test. If the issue disappears on Ethernet, that points toward a local Wi-Fi or network issue; if it continues, the cause may lie elsewhere. A cable cannot fix a missing beta license, a realm outage, or a Blizzard-side routing problem, and Blizzard’s general guidance does not specifically prescribe Ethernet as a Forever Beta fix.
7. Treat forum reports as clues, not confirmed solutions
As of October 4, 2026, Blizzard’s US and EU technical-support forums included player reports about Forever launch failures, unavailable realms, repeated Battle.net updates, and incorrect game folders. Those titles describe individual reports, not verified causes or evidence that a problem is widespread. Use them to recognize similar symptoms, but do not assume a player-posted workaround is an official fix.
