If Hao’s Special Works (HSW) is missing in GTA Online, first confirm you launched an edition that supports it: Rockstar’s 2026 update notes identify PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and GTAV Enhanced on PC. Then identify what is missing—the LS Car Meet upgrade service, Hao’s introductory activity, or the HSW Time Trial—because each has a different explanation. On PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, completing Hao’s Intro Race is no longer required to access HSW upgrades.
1. Confirm your platform and game edition
HSW availability depends on the version of GTA Online you are playing. Rockstar’s 2026 notes identify PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and GTAV Enhanced on PC in connection with HSW content. See Rockstar’s update notes.

If you are on PS4, Xbox One, or PC Legacy, verify that you have launched an HSW-supported edition before trying unlock steps. The platform list does not establish that HSW is available in those editions.
2. Identify what is not appearing
“HSW not appearing” can refer to several separate things. Check which symptom matches yours before troubleshooting further:
#1 Best Overall
- STUNNING VISUALS — Enhanced levels of fidelity and performance with new graphics modes featuring up to 4K resolution, up to 60 frames per second, HDR options, ray tracing, improved texture quality, and more
- FASTER LOADING — Quicker access to the action as the world of Los Santos and Blaine County load in faster than ever before.
- ADAPTIVE TRIGGERS AND HAPTIC FEEDBACK — Feel every moment through the DualSense controller, from directional damage to weather effects, rough road surfaces to explosions, and more.
- TEMPEST 3D AUDIO — Hear the sounds of the world with pinpoint precision: the throttle of a stolen supercar, the rattle of neighbouring gunfire, the roar of a helicopter overhead, and more.
- Please note that although this game is Region Free or Region Unlocked and will work on all systems, this is the European version and may differ from the local version in age rating, labeling or instructions.
- HSW Upgrade Service or mods: Look for the service inside the LS Car Meet.
- Hao’s call or introductory race: This is an introductory activity, not the same as the workshop service.
- HSW Time Trial: This is a map activity, separate from vehicle upgrades at the Car Meet.
3. If the HSW Upgrade Service is missing at the LS Car Meet
On PS5 or Xbox Series X|S
Rockstar’s Title Update 1.64 removed the Intro Race requirement for access to the HSW Upgrade Service and mods on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. You do not need to complete the race as a prerequisite on those consoles. Read Rockstar’s Title Update 1.64 notes.
On PC Enhanced
Rockstar’s current notes confirm HSW content on GTAV Enhanced for PC, but the Title Update 1.64 change removing the Intro Race requirement explicitly applies only to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The cited notes do not establish the exact PC-specific intro or call trigger, so do not assume the console rule applies to PC.

- Experience the world of Grand Theft Auto V like never before with the power of the PlayStation 4.
- Explore the City of Los Santos, the countryside and even the ocean.
- Play through an epic single player experience using three very different characters.
- Join your friends in GTA Online and see what trouble you can cause.
- Play golf, tennis, see a film or call someone and just hang out.
4. If the HSW Time Trial is missing
Update GTA Online before diagnosing a missing Time Trial. Rockstar’s Title Update 1.69 notes record a fix for a bug that prevented the HSW Time Trial from appearing for players who had not completed it. The note documents that visibility issue; it does not promise that updating resolves every case. Read Rockstar’s Title Update 1.69 notes.

- This game will no longer support Windows 7 or 8 operating systems starting January 30, 2024.
5. If HSW is still absent
If you are using a supported, updated edition and the relevant feature is still missing, gather these details before seeking support or advice:
- Your platform and exact game edition (for example, PS5 or GTAV Enhanced on PC).
- Whether the missing item is the LS Car Meet upgrade service, Hao’s introductory activity, or the Time Trial.
- Whether the game is fully updated.
Rockstar’s cited notes do not diagnose individual account states or provide a universal reset method, so these details are needed to narrow down the issue rather than applying an unsupported account-reset fix.
