First identify which Search Console report is empty. A new property may take up to a week to show data; once collection begins, Performance data is usually available after two to three days. If an established property remains empty, check the selected property, report date range and update time, and whether the site had eligible search activity. A missing individual page needs URL-level indexing checks—not the same fix as an empty Performance report.
Start by identifying what is missing
“No data” can describe different symptoms, and each points to a different diagnosis:
- The entire Performance report is empty: Check property identity, the date range, the report’s last-updated date, and whether the site received impressions or clicks in Google Search.
- A report says data is processing or unavailable: Consider the age of the property and the normal reporting delay before treating it as an error.
- A report is absent from the navigation: Some Search Console reports appear only when the property has relevant data. Check the report’s scope and eligibility; absence alone does not prove a service fault. See Google’s guide to navigating a Search Console report.
- One page is missing from Google or an indexing report: Inspect that exact URL and review its indexing status.
- Search Console totals differ from another tool: The tools may use different definitions, time boundaries, or processing. Search Console is not a complete, row-by-row log of every search.
Fix an empty Performance report
1. Confirm the selected property
Use the property selector in Search Console and verify that it represents the site you mean to check. An HTTP URL, an HTTPS URL, a www hostname, a non-www hostname, and a subdomain can be distinct URL-prefix properties. A Domain property covers its subdomains and protocols, but make sure the property’s domain is the intended one. Data belonging to a different property will not appear merely because the sites seem related. Google explains property coverage in About Search Console data.

Review the selected date range and the report’s displayed last-updated date. Performance data is not necessarily current to the present day. In most Performance report views, daily dates are labeled in Pacific Time, so the day boundary may not match the timezone used by another analytics tool or your local clock. Compare equivalent date ranges before diagnosing a discrepancy.

3. Allow time for collection and processing
Google says it can take up to a week to generate data for a newly created site or newly added Search Console property. After data collection is underway, collected data is normally available in two to three days. These are Google’s published operational timeframes, not a guarantee that every report will have values: Performance data still depends on eligible activity in Google Search. See Google’s explanation of Search Console data timing.
4. Check whether there was eligible search activity
The Performance report measures activity associated with links that send users to the selected property. If the site did not receive impressions or clicks in the selected Search surface and date range, an empty or sparse report may be expected rather than evidence of a Search Console malfunction. Confirm that the correct property and dates are selected, then check whether the site appears in Google Search for relevant queries.
Understand why Performance totals and rows differ
Search Console’s chart totals do not have to equal the sum of the visible query rows. Google processes Performance data, including removing duplicates, and omits some rare or anonymized queries from tables for privacy. Tables can display at most 1,000 rows, even when chart totals reflect more activity. Therefore, a missing query row or a smaller visible table total does not by itself mean data collection failed. Google details these limits in its Performance report troubleshooting guidance.

Check a specific missing page separately
An individual URL that is absent from Google Search is an indexing question, not necessarily a Performance-report problem. A page can be indexed without appearing for every query, and indexing a new or recently changed page can take from a day or two to a few weeks depending on the circumstances. Requesting indexing does not force Google to index a page immediately.
- Check whether the URL appears in Search. Search for the exact URL or use a
site:query as an initial check. Search results are not a substitute for URL Inspection, but they can help clarify whether the issue is visibility in Search. - Inspect the exact URL. In Search Console, open URL Inspection and enter the full page URL. Review the indexed result and its Page indexing status. Google’s single-page inspection guide explains how to inspect and troubleshoot a URL.
- Test the live URL if needed. If the indexed result does not reflect the page’s current state, run the live URL test and review what Google can access. Use the status and details shown there to decide what to fix.
- Allow time after a recent change or submission. Crawling and indexing are not instant. Google’s guide to pages missing from Google Search explains common causes and timing considerations.
When a report or row is absent by design
Search Console reports do not all cover the same information. Some are available only when the property has relevant data, and many represent a sample of URLs rather than every URL Google knows about. Performance data is tied to the selected property and links that send users to it. A missing report or URL row may therefore reflect scope, eligibility, or sampling—not an outage. For structured-data reports specifically, see Google’s guide to debugging missing structured data or drops in structured-data items.

Use the symptom to choose the next check
| Symptom | Most useful first check | What the result suggests |
|---|---|---|
| New property has no data | Confirm the property and allow Google’s stated generation window. | Before up to a week has passed, an empty report can be normal. |
| Established property has an empty Performance report | Check property identity, date range, last-updated date, and Search activity. | Wrong scope, a date boundary, reporting lag, or no eligible activity may explain it. |
| One URL is missing | Run URL Inspection and review Page indexing status. | The issue concerns that URL’s crawling or indexing, not necessarily property-wide Performance data. |
| Chart total exceeds visible query rows | Review Google’s notes on anonymization, processing, and table limits. | Some query detail may not be available in the table. |
| A report does not appear in the navigation | Check whether the property has data that makes the report available. | The report may not be eligible for this property or data set. |
