If Fate/Grand Order (FGO) will not download, update, or log in after an event begins, first check the official notice page for your game region. Then troubleshoot the specific symptom: store and connection issues, device compatibility, or account recovery. Do not uninstall the game as a routine fix; protect your account data before reinstalling or changing devices.
Start by identifying which problem you have
An event starting at the same time as a problem does not, by itself, show that the event caused it. The next step depends on what you see:

For USA players, the official news and notices page includes dated, issue-specific investigations. The page reviewed on September 13, 2026 does not establish a general event-time login outage, and an old or unrelated entry should not be treated as the explanation for a current error. Check your region’s official notices and their dates before changing settings.

FGO’s Japan support FAQ (No. 223, updated May 2, 2025) recommends checking free storage, connection stability, and whether the game is installed on internal storage. Its other steps differ by operating system:

Android: Google Play does not show the update
- Check that the device has enough free storage and a stable internet connection. If FGO is installed on external storage, move the installation to internal storage if your device and system allow it.
- Open Android settings and find the Google Play Store app’s storage controls. Clear the Play Store cache, then reopen Google Play and check FGO’s listing for an update. Exact menu names vary by Android version and device.
- Do not uninstall Google Play Store updates as part of this procedure. Japan support warns against doing so.
iPhone or iPad: refresh the App Store update listing
- Confirm there is enough free storage and that the device’s internet connection is stable.
- If you are using iOS 13 or later, restart the device, close other running apps, and restart FGO.
- Open the App Store and refresh the Updates tab, then check whether the FGO update appears.
These are steps from the Japan FGO install/update FAQ, not a universal menu guide for every regional build. It explicitly advises against uninstalling FGO as a troubleshooting step.
Check FGO compatibility before repeating attempts
An app-store compatibility label may not tell you the full set of requirements. For the USA version, use the official device requirements FAQ, updated May 26, 2026. Requirements are region- and service-specific and can change.

USA version: a planned requirements change in January 2027
A separate USA notice dated September 13, 2026 says a Unity 6 engine update is scheduled for September 25, 2026 PDT, with changes to supported devices planned to begin in mid-January 2027. As of October 4, 2026, the notice describes future requirements, not thresholds already in force. After the change, the notice lists iPhone 11 or later and specified newer models as supported, with iPhone 14 or later recommended; for Android, it lists 4 GB RAM as necessary and 6 GB as recommended, with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or later recommended. See the USA Unity 6 device notice for the full details. It advises affected players to prepare a transfer number and move to a device meeting the recommended environment.

Protect your account before reinstalling or changing devices
If you are worried that login trouble has affected your account data, do not uninstall FGO before checking your region’s recovery options. USA support says to try an issued transfer number or an existing iCloud, iTunes, or Google account backup first. If neither is available or restoration fails, you can submit an inquiry; support may investigate and issue a transfer number if recovery criteria are met, but recovery is not guaranteed. Follow the USA account recovery guidance and use its official support route.
The USA FAQ says its service supports backup through iCloud, iTunes, or a Google account. If both a transfer number and backup exist, the transfer number takes priority. A transfer number and password cannot be reused after they have been used. The Japan FAQ also lists these broad backup methods and warns that backup restoration cannot cross operating systems; it directs players changing OS to use a transfer number instead. Consult the USA FAQ or Japan transfer and backup FAQ for the instructions applicable to your version.

When the usual checks do not resolve it
If the official notice page does not list your issue and the matching local checks do not help, contact the support team for your game region. Include details that help identify the failure:

- The exact error text or what happens on screen
- Your device model and operating-system version
- Your FGO region and game version, if available
- When the problem began, including your time zone if relevant
Use official support rather than third-party account-recovery services. Do not delete app data, edit game files, or install unofficial packages as general troubleshooting steps.
