If your Galaxy S26 Ultra is losing charge faster than expected, start by checking battery usage, background apps, signal strength, and recent setup activity. Samsung lists these as possible causes on Galaxy phones, but its guidance does not establish a specific defect or a guaranteed battery-life gain for the S26 Ultra. Try the checks below in order, changing one thing at a time so you can see what makes a difference.
Why your Galaxy S26 Ultra may be draining quickly
Battery use can be higher for a while after setting up or resetting a phone, while apps and services are being configured or optimized. Samsung’s Gulf guidance, updated 9 June 2026, explicitly includes the Galaxy S26 series and describes this as a possible explanation during the first few days. It is not a diagnosis, and ongoing drain can have other causes.
Samsung also identifies weak or unstable network conditions, 5G use, apps running in the background, and battery condition as possible factors. Their effects depend on how and where you use the phone; Samsung has not published an S26 Ultra-specific drain measurement or savings figure for these fixes.

Allow time for setup to settle
If the phone is new or recently reset, use it normally for a few days before judging its typical battery life. Samsung says initial setup and optimization can temporarily increase battery use. If the drain continues, move on to the checks below rather than assuming setup is the cause.

Look for an app using unusually much power
Open Settings > Battery or Settings > Device care > Battery, depending on your software version, and review battery usage by app. Look for an app whose use seems out of proportion to how much you used it; Samsung does not set a universal threshold for what counts as unusual. If a recently installed app stands out, update it or uninstall it if you do not need it.

Limit background activity selectively
In Battery settings, look for Background usage limits or a similarly named app-sleeping control. Samsung’s guidance describes Sleeping and Deep sleeping app categories. Deep-sleeping apps do not run until you open them manually, so reserve that option for apps that do not need to work in the background. Avoid deep-sleeping messaging, safety, or other notification-sensitive apps if you rely on their alerts.

Ignore fake battery-drain warnings and remove suspicious apps
A pop-up claiming “Battery is draining fast” may be an advertisement designed to get you to download an app, not a system diagnosis. Do not install an app from an alarming pop-up. Close it, review recently installed apps, and use built-in Device Care or app-safety checks to investigate anything suspicious. Turn off features you are not using
Switch off Wi-Fi or Bluetooth when you do not need them, and review location and account-sync activity if they are running continuously without a reason. These features are not automatically the cause of fast drain; the effect depends on your use and conditions. Change only what you can do without.

Check reception and mobile network use
A weak or unstable signal can make a phone work harder to stay connected. If 5G reception is poor where you use the phone, compare battery behavior with LTE selected, where available. The setting may be under Settings > Connections > Mobile networks; carrier and software versions can use different labels. Samsung suggests LTE as a possible option in weak 5G areas, but does not publish a specific saving.

Use Power saving mode when its limits are acceptable
Turn it on from the Battery settings page or the Quick Settings panel. Samsung says Power saving mode can restrict background data for unused apps and disable high-power features such as Always On Display. Those restrictions can delay background activity or affect notifications, so use the mode when the extra runtime matters more than those features.

Reduce display demand
Try lowering screen brightness and shortening the screen timeout. Samsung’s Galaxy optimization guidance also says dark wallpapers can help on AMOLED displays. The benefit depends on your settings and use; Samsung has not established an S26 Ultra-specific figure for these changes. See Samsung UK’s Galaxy battery optimization guidance.

Install available software and app updates
Check Settings > Software update > Download and install, then update apps through the store you use. Labels and paths can vary. Samsung recommends keeping software and related apps current, but the available guidance does not identify a particular S26 Ultra firmware update as a battery-drain fix.

Run optimization and battery diagnostics
Use Settings > Device care to run available optimization and review battery use. Samsung Members may also offer phone diagnostics, including a battery check; availability and labels depend on your device, software, and region. If the results raise a battery-condition concern, or drain remains unexplained after these checks, contact Samsung support in your region for next steps. When to contact Samsung support
Seek help if the drain remains persistent after app, network, and software checks, or if Samsung Members or Device Care reports a battery concern. Samsung describes the battery as a consumable component: with repeated charging and discharging, its capacity gradually decreases and cannot be restored. A diagnostic can help determine whether the battery or another issue needs attention; contact local Samsung support for advice about the appropriate next step.
Samsung’s regional menu names and available features vary by model, software version, carrier, and country. Its battery guidance is general Galaxy support unless it specifically says otherwise, so none of these checks guarantees a particular improvement on the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
