If a Safari extension is missing or not working on an iPhone or iPad running iOS 27, check its main permission first, then confirm it is enabled in the Safari profile you are using and allowed on the affected website. On a school- or work-managed device, an administrator may control extension availability. Apple does not document one universal fix for failures that persist after these checks.
Check whether the extension is enabled

Open Settings > Apps > Safari > Extensions.

Select the extension and turn on Allow Extension.
If the extension is not listed, check whether it was installed through its associated App Store app. Apple documents Safari extensions as App Store installations; deleting that app also removes its extension. Apple’s iPhone guide to Safari extensions describes the installation and settings flow.

Check the Safari profile you are using
If you have Safari profiles set up, enable the extension for each profile where you want to use it. An extension setting for one profile does not mean it is enabled in another. Apple states: “If you have Safari profiles set up, turn on the extension for each profile you want to use it with.”
Check the affected website’s extension setting
Safari can control extension access for an individual site separately from the main permission. Open the affected page, tap the Page Menu, choose Manage Extensions, and check that the extension is on for that website. If it works elsewhere but not on this page, this site-specific setting is a useful place to look.

Consider whether it is an Apple-created custom extension
In iOS 27, Safari’s Describe Extension flow lets a user describe an extension or choose a suggested category. Safari checks the App Store for a match; if it does not find one, it offers to create an extension that can be tried, edited, and saved. This feature requires Apple Intelligence, and Apple specifies device, language, and regional availability limits, so it is not available to every user.
An App Store extension is associated with its app, whereas an extension made through Safari’s custom-creation flow has a separate delete action in Manage Extensions. If the extension is absent or behaving unexpectedly, identify which type you installed before removing anything.

Check for organization management on a work or school device
On a supervised device, management settings may define which extensions are allowed, force an extension on or off, or limit the websites it can access. Apple also notes that the extension’s host app must be present for the extension to be managed. If settings are missing, locked, or contrary to what your organization permits, contact its administrator. See Apple’s Safari extensions management guide for Apple devices.

If the extension still does not work
Once the global permission, profile, website access, and any management policy are accounted for, the remaining problem may depend on that extension’s compatibility, behavior, or service requirements. Contact the extension developer for app-specific help, or Apple Support for device-specific diagnosis. Apple’s iOS guide does not establish clearing Safari’s cache, resetting settings, reinstalling, or restarting as a universal fix for a persistent extension failure.

Do not apply Mac-only troubleshooting to an iPhone or iPad. Apple’s separate article, “If you can’t turn on extensions in Safari for Mac,” covers macOS and its Safe Mode advice is not an iPhone or iPad procedure.
