There is no confirmed official fix for Gears of War: E-Day campaign collectibles that seem to be missing from the War Journal. First check that the item was picked up and that you are viewing the campaign journal, then fully close and relaunch the game and check the same save again. If the count still does not match, preserve your save and report the details to Gears of War Support; a restart is only a low-risk check, not a confirmed remedy.
First, confirm it is a campaign collectible issue
This guidance is for items picked up during the E-Day campaign that do not appear to be counted in the War Journal. It does not apply to multiplayer unlocks or progression, which cover separate systems, or to a physical Collector’s Edition item.

Record what the War Journal is showing
Before changing anything, note the act and chapter, the collectible’s name or description, how many items you believe you picked up, and the War Journal count. If the chapter provides a location list, compare it with what you collected to determine whether an item may have been missed or whether the journal’s total appears inconsistent.
A player has reported an Act 2 discrepancy: they said they picked up 38 collectibles but the War Journal showed 37. The report does not identify the specific item, establish why the totals differed, or confirm a successful fix. It is one player’s account, not evidence that the issue is widespread. Restart the game and recheck the same save
- Fully close Gears of War: E-Day rather than merely returning to the title screen.
- Launch the game again and load the same campaign save you used when collecting the item.
- Open the War Journal and compare its count with the number you recorded before restarting.
This is a low-risk diagnostic check; no reviewed official source confirms that restarting fixes collectible tracking. If the count changes, record the result, but treat it as what happened in your save rather than proof of a general solution.
Protect your campaign save
Do not delete local or cloud saves as a first step. No reviewed official guidance recommends erasing save data for this symptom, and doing so could put campaign progress at risk. The official E-Day support guide says, “The Campaign allows you to save up to 5 different campaign playthroughs or states.” That documents multiple campaign save slots, but does not say that another slot repairs collectible tracking. Preserve the original save; if you use a separate slot, do not overwrite the one you are troubleshooting.

Contact support if the count still does not match

Include your platform, act and chapter, collectible name or description, the count before and after restarting, and screenshots if available. Those details can help support distinguish a missed pickup from a journal-count discrepancy.

Check service status without assuming an outage
You can also check the Gears of War Status page. When checked for this article, it displayed no current update time or service states, so it could not confirm whether progression services were healthy or experiencing a problem. As of October 3, 2026, no official collectible-specific troubleshooting procedure, confirmed known issue, or confirmed fix was located. E-Day entered early access on October 1, 2026, and its worldwide launch was scheduled for October 6, 2026, according to Xbox Wire; game behavior and support information may change. Check official support for current guidance. There is not enough evidence to recommend reinstalling the game, replaying the chapter, relinking an account, or changing cloud data as a solution.
