If Call of Duty: Mobile will not download, install, update, or open, start by checking Activision’s device requirements and using Google Play or Apple’s App Store. Then troubleshoot the stage that is failing: the store download, available storage, launching the game, or a separate in-game content download. The steps below follow Activision’s support guide, updated February 25, 2026, and distinguish those problems so you can retry after each relevant fix.
Start with compatibility and the official app store
Before changing settings or trying the download repeatedly, compare your device with the minimum requirements listed in Activision’s support guide. These minimums indicate supported operating-system and memory levels; they do not guarantee that every qualifying device will run the game smoothly.

Check the operating-system version in your device’s Settings, usually under an About or Software Update section; the label and location differ by device. If you are unsure how much RAM your device has, check its manufacturer’s specifications. If it falls below a stated minimum, repeated download attempts or cache clearing will not make the device meet that requirement.

Open the game’s listing in Google Play on Android or the App Store on iPhone or iPad, and use the store’s Install or Update control. Avoid unofficial APKs and third-party installation sources: Activision’s troubleshooting guidance points players to the platform stores.

Check the store listing before troubleshooting deeper. If the listing offers Install, the store has not installed the app on that device; if it offers Update, the store has an app update available. If the listing indicates that the device is incompatible, compare the device’s RAM and operating-system version with the stated minimums before repeating a download attempt. The minimums are not a performance guarantee, but they are a useful first check for an installation problem.
“I’m having trouble downloading the app”
First identify whether the store download is paused, stalled, or returning an error. Work through the steps below in order, retrying the download after each change. That makes it easier to tell which step helped and avoids changing several things at once.
Check the connection and restart
- Connect to a strong Wi-Fi network and retry from the official store.
- If Wi-Fi is unreliable and you have access to the router, restart it, then try the store again. Alternatively, try mobile data if your plan and local signal allow it.
- Restart the phone or tablet, reopen the store, and retry the download.
A connection problem can affect a store download even when the game itself has not been installed. Call of Duty: Mobile also requires a network connection to play, so a successful install does not remove the need to check connectivity if the game later cannot connect.

Retrying after each step helps separate a connection issue from a device or store issue. For example, if the download completes after switching from unreliable Wi-Fi to mobile data, the store was able to proceed over that connection. If it still fails, continue to the Android Play Store step below where applicable. This sequence does not identify every possible cause of a store error, so avoid treating one unsuccessful retry as proof of a particular error code or service outage.
Clear Google Play Store cache and data on Android
Activision recommends clearing Google Play Store cache and data when an Android download fails. On many Android devices, open Settings, then Apps or Applications, select Google Play Store, open Storage, and choose Clear cache and Clear data or Clear storage. Exact labels and menus vary by manufacturer and Android version. Return to Google Play and retry the download.
This step applies to the Play Store, not to Call of Duty: Mobile’s game data. If your settings use different names, look for the Play Store’s storage controls rather than clearing data for the game as a substitute.

If clearing the store’s cache and data does not help, check that you have not shifted to troubleshooting the wrong stage. A Play Store download that has not completed is different from an installed game that fails during launch, and both differ from content the game downloads after opening. Return to the relevant section rather than deleting game data or searching for an unofficial installer.
“I’m getting a message saying my device doesn’t have enough storage”
Free space on the device itself before retrying the installation or update. Activision notes that an insufficient-storage warning can appear even when the device reports some free space. Its support guide does not give a universal amount of free space that guarantees an install, so do not treat a particular number as a sure fix.
Keep device storage separate from cloud storage when checking the warning. The app has to install or update on the phone or tablet, so focus first on space reported in the device’s storage settings. On iPhone and iPad, iCloud backup management can be reviewed separately, but changing cloud backup storage is not the same as creating room on the device itself.
Free space on Android
- In Settings, review storage or app-size information and find apps using substantial space.
- Clear the cache of other large apps where appropriate. Some Android devices also offer a system-wide option to clear cached data.
- Uninstall apps you no longer use or remove large files you no longer need.
Menu names vary across Android devices. Be sure you are clearing another app’s cache or removing files you no longer need, rather than deleting Call of Duty: Mobile or its data as a first response to a store warning.
After freeing space, return to Google Play and retry the same install or update. If the warning remains, remove or clear additional items you can safely do without, then try again. Activision does not specify a single storage threshold because the space available and installation conditions can vary; there is no supported universal number to promise as enough.

- Open Settings and review iPhone Storage or iPad Storage to see what is using device space.
- Delete apps you no longer use or remove large files that you can safely do without.
- If backups are contributing to your storage concern, review iCloud backup management separately; device storage and iCloud storage are distinct.
Retry the app-store action after making room. If the warning remains, free additional device space and try again; Activision does not specify a fixed amount that will resolve every device’s warning.

Do not rely on the approximate size of a past version as a storage target. Activision’s Version 35.0 notes listed optimized app sizes of about 1.6 GB on Android and 3.3 GB on iOS in December 2025, but those dated figures are not a current size promise or a guaranteed free-space requirement. Check the current store listing and respond to the warning on your own device.
The app installed, but it will not open, freezes, or crashes
Use the platform-specific recovery sequence in Activision’s guide. Complete a step, then reopen the game to see whether the problem has changed.
Android
- Restart the device.
- Check Google Play for a game update and install it if available.
- Install available Android system updates.
- Clear the game’s cache in the device’s app settings, then try launching it again. Settings names and locations differ by device.
iPhone or iPad
- Restart the device.
- Check the App Store for a game update and install it if available.
- Install available iOS or iPadOS updates.
- If the game still will not open, delete and reinstall the app. Activision says deleting the iOS app will not delete game progress or other game data; sign in with the same account afterward to reinstate them.
The stated reassurance about progress applies to deleting the app on iOS, as described by Activision. Do not assume that deleting an app on another platform has the same effect; the cited guidance does not make that broader promise.

Likewise, installing a game update and installing an operating-system update are two different actions. Check each in its own platform settings or store, then reopen the game after the relevant change.
The app updated, but the game is still downloading content
An app-store update and an in-game content download can be separate stages. If the store says the app is updated but the game shows its own download or Download Manager screen, that does not by itself mean the store update failed. Let the in-game download complete before judging features that depend on the missing content.
Activision’s Version 35.0 notes, dated December 8, 2025, provide a specific historical example: after that update, some Android content had to be downloaded again through the in-game Download Manager. The Isolated Battle Royale map was unavailable until its download finished, and HD audio remained at lower quality until its download finished. For that version, the notes said the corresponding content was included in the base iOS app build.

This describes Version 35.0 only, not what every current update requires. The notes also listed approximate post-optimization app sizes of 1.6 GB on Android and 3.3 GB on iOS. Those are figures from that dated version note, not promises about the size of a current download. Check the current store listing and the game’s own download screen for the action currently being requested.
When you see a separate in-game download, distinguish it from an app-store install before restarting the whole process. The store controls the app update; the game’s Download Manager handles content that the game requests after launch. Version 35.0 demonstrates why a game can open while particular content or quality settings remain unavailable until an in-game download finishes. It should not be used to predict which content a later version will require or how large that download will be.
The game still reports a connection problem or an unexplained error
Confirm that the device has a working network connection, then restart the device and retry. If the issue occurs on Wi-Fi, restart the router if you have access to it, or try mobile data. Do not infer that a particular error means there is an outage: the available guidance does not establish current service status or meanings for every error code.
If the same device-specific problem continues after the relevant steps, contact Activision through the game’s help option: tap the question-mark icon in the main lobby. Activision’s support pages also have help categories for downloads, storage, and updates. If you cannot reach the in-game help because the game will not launch, use Activision support’s website and choose the category that matches the problem.
When asking for help, describe which stage fails: whether the app-store download begins, whether installation completes, whether the game opens, or whether an in-game content download remains. This keeps the issue clear without guessing at what an error code means. Activision’s guide covers common connection, download, storage, update, and launch steps, but does not establish the meaning of every error message or the current availability of the service.

These are the platform differences stated in Activision’s guide and Version 35.0 notes. Menu labels and individual update behavior can change, so use the current settings and store screens on your device rather than assuming every device has the same menu path.

Choose the next step by where the failure occurs
- The store will not start or finish the download: check compatibility, use the official store, improve the connection, restart the device, and on Android clear Google Play Store cache and data.
- The store reports insufficient storage: free space on the device by removing unused apps or large files and, on Android, clearing other apps’ caches.
- The app is installed but crashes or freezes: follow the platform’s restart, game-update, operating-system-update, and cache or reinstall sequence above.
- The app-store update is finished but an in-game download continues: treat the content download as a separate stage and follow the game’s Download Manager.
- The error persists or does not fit these cases: use the in-app question-mark help or Activision support rather than guessing at an error-code meaning.

“I’m having trouble downloading the app.” What should I try first?

The update finished, but Call of Duty: Mobile is still downloading. Is that normal?
An app-store update and an in-game content download can be separate. Activision’s December 8, 2025 Version 35.0 notes said some Android content had to be downloaded again through the in-game Download Manager. That is a version-specific example, not a promise about what the current version requires.
Will deleting Call of Duty: Mobile erase my progress?
Activision says deleting the iOS app will not delete game progress or other game data; sign in with the same account afterward to reinstate them. The cited guidance does not make the same promise for every platform, so do not assume the iOS advice applies elsewhere.
What if none of these steps fixes the problem?
Use the question-mark help icon in the main lobby to contact Activision, or choose the matching download, storage, or update category on Activision support. If the app will not open, use the support website. Describe the step where the failure occurs rather than guessing at an error-code meaning.
