Fix Call of Duty: Mobile in this order: confirm that the phone meets Activision’s minimum requirements, identify whether the failure is the app install or an in-game download, then apply the platform-specific restart, update, cache, network, and storage steps below one at a time. Android and iPhone/iPad have different recovery options, and the Download Manager procedure described for Version 35.0 was a dated Android requirement rather than a permanent rule for every release.
Start by identifying exactly where Call of Duty: Mobile fails
The right fix depends on the failure stage. “It will not download” can mean the app cannot be installed from Google Play or the App Store, or that the already-installed game is downloading a map, audio pack, or other asset. A crash at launch has a different remedy from a match that disconnects after loading.
- Launch failure: the app closes, freezes, shows a black screen, or never reaches the lobby.
- App-store installation failure: Google Play or the App Store cannot download or install the game.
- In-game resource failure: the lobby opens, but a map, audio pack, or other content remains unavailable or stalls in the game’s downloader.
- Match connection or lag: the game opens, but movement, hit registration, or loading is erratic during play.
- Storage warning: installation or an update reports insufficient space, even though the operating system appears to show free capacity.
For a support report, note the platform, OS version, game version, exact error wording, and whether the symptom began immediately after an update. Those details help support understand the case, but they do not by themselves prove the cause.

| Platform | Minimum operating system | Minimum memory | What the requirement means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Android | Android 6.0 or later | 2 GB RAM | Compatibility floor, not a frame-rate or stability guarantee |
| iPhone or iPad | iOS 15.0 or later | 2 GB RAM | Compatibility floor, not a frame-rate or stability guarantee |
A device can satisfy these figures and still crash, stutter, overheat, or struggle with later content. Activision does not promise a particular frame rate or stable performance on every handset that meets the minimum. Check the OS version in the device’s About or Software Update screen and check the installed RAM specification from the manufacturer before spending time on app-level fixes.
If Call of Duty: Mobile crashes, freezes, goes black, or will not launch
Use one change, then test the game. Activision’s sequence is deliberately incremental: a restart and an update can solve a transient problem without erasing local settings, while cache clearing or reinstalling comes later.
Android launch-recovery sequence
- Restart the phone. Shut down or restart Android normally, wait for the home screen to return, and launch the game before changing another setting.
- Update the game. Open Google Play, search for Call of Duty: Mobile, and install an available update. If the button says Open, no store update is currently offered for that account and device.
- Install Android system updates. Open Settings and use the device’s Software Update or System Update page. Menu names differ among manufacturers; complete any update that is already offered, then restart if Android requests it.
- Clear only the game cache. Go to Settings > Apps > Call of Duty: Mobile > Storage (or Storage & cache) > Clear Cache. Android labels vary. Choose Clear Cache, not Clear Storage or Clear Data, unless support specifically tells you to use the more destructive option.
Test the lobby after each step. If the game launches after clearing the cache, do not continue deleting data merely as a precaution. Cache removal is intended to discard temporary files; it is not a universal repair for every crash.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsiPhone and iPad launch-recovery sequence
- Restart the device. Use the normal shutdown and startup controls for the iPhone or iPad model, then try the game.
- Update the app. Open the App Store, tap the account picture, review available updates, and update Call of Duty: Mobile if it appears.
- Update iOS or iPadOS. Open Settings > General > Software Update and install an offered update that the device supports.
- Delete and reinstall if it still fails. Remove the app, download it again from the App Store, and sign in with the same game account. Activision lists this as a troubleshooting step and says that progress and other game data can be reinstated when you use the same account.
The account instruction matters: it applies to the game progress and data Activision says can be restored through the same sign-in. Do not assume that unrelated local files, unsynced settings, or data belonging to another account will return after deletion. If you are unsure which account is linked, resolve that before removing the app.

If the app will not download or install
First confirm that the device meets the requirements above and that the failure is in Google Play or the App Store rather than the game’s own Download Manager. A strong Wi-Fi connection is Activision’s preferred starting point for downloading. If Wi-Fi is unreliable, restart the router when you can access it or try mobile data, subject to your carrier’s allowance. Then restart the phone or tablet and try the store download again.
Android: reset the Google Play Store’s temporary state
- Open Settings > Apps > Google Play Store.
- Tap Storage (or Storage & cache).
- Use Clear Cache, then retry the download.
- If the store still refuses to install the app, return to the same screen and use Clear Storage or Clear Data, accepting the Android warning. This resets Play Store’s local state; you may need to reopen the store and confirm account or preference prompts.
Do not confuse the Play Store’s cache with Call of Duty: Mobile’s cache. The former addresses the store transaction; the latter addresses temporary game files after the app is installed.
iPhone and iPad: check the store connection and available space
Use a reliable Wi-Fi connection or test mobile data if your plan allows it, restart the device, and retry the App Store download. If the store reports a capacity problem, use Settings > General > iPhone Storage or iPad Storage to identify what is consuming space before attempting the install again. Keep the device connected to power if a large download is taking a long time.
If Call of Duty: Mobile resources will not download in the game
An in-game asset is not the same as the application package. If the app reaches the lobby but a map or audio pack is missing, repeating App Store or Google Play troubleshooting will not necessarily affect that asset.

The Android Version 35.0 case
Activision’s Version 35.0 notes, dated December 8, 2025, instructed Android players to redownload some content through the in-game Download Manager after that update. The notes specifically named the Isolated Battle Royale map and HD audio. The map could not be used until its download completed, and audio quality remained lower until the HD audio download finished.
To open that manager in the Version 35.0 workflow, enter the main lobby and tap the down-arrow icon at the bottom of the screen. Allow the listed content to finish, keep the device on a dependable connection, and reopen the relevant mode if the lobby still shows it as unavailable.
This is a version-specific example, not a claim that every current update uses the same icon or requires the same assets. A later release can change both the menu label and which resources are bundled. Check the notes for the installed game version before treating this procedure as universal.
Why iOS may look different
The same Version 35.0 notes said iOS included the Isolated Battle Royale map and HD audio in the base app build rather than requiring those separate downloads. Therefore, an iPhone or iPad owner should not expect the Android redownload sequence to apply automatically. Current release notes take priority over this historical distinction.

When a resource download stalls
- Verify that the asset is actually listed as pending in the game’s Download Manager rather than in the operating system’s app store.
- Keep the game open long enough for the progress indicator to advance; background suspension can interrupt a large transfer.
- Retry once on another reliable network, such as mobile data or a different trusted Wi-Fi connection, if available and permitted by your plan.
- If the asset remains unavailable after the current release’s documented steps, record the game version, device, asset name, and any error text for Activision support.
If matches lag, disconnect, or connect poorly
Activision says Call of Duty: Mobile requires a network connection, recommends strong Wi-Fi, and suggests restarting the router when Wi-Fi is problematic. Restarting the device can also refresh its connection. These are connection checks, not guarantees: the official material does not publish a required bandwidth, ping limit, packet-loss threshold, or universal fix for lag.
Use a simple network comparison without overclaiming the result
- Play one short session on your usual Wi-Fi after restarting the router.
- If possible, repeat once on another reliable network or mobile data.
- Compare only the symptom: does the same account and device still lag in the same way?
If the behavior changes substantially between networks, the local connection may be involved. If it does not change, this comparison alone does not establish whether the cause is the device, the game, the route to the server, or something else. Avoid presenting a single test as a diagnosis.
Do not change your registered region to chase lower latency
Activision Support’s region policy, dated March 18, 2026, states: “You will always connect to servers you are closest to physically. Changing your registered region will not affect game performance.” A region change is therefore not an appropriate lag remedy. The policy does not promise that every player will have identical latency; it explains why changing the account region will not move you to a closer game server.

The reviewed official guidance also does not recommend VPNs, network-boosting applications, or buying new networking hardware as a general solution. Consider replacing or repositioning home networking equipment only after you have independently established a broader Wi-Fi problem affecting other devices; a router purchase cannot repair a game crash, a full phone, or a server-side issue.

If you see an insufficient-storage message
Activision warns that installation can fail with an “Insufficient Storage” or “Not Enough Storage” message even when the operating system appears to show free capacity. The installer may need temporary working room in addition to the final package, and the displayed figure can change while an update is staged.
Free space safely on Android
- Clear caches belonging to other large applications from their individual Settings > Apps > Storage pages.
- Uninstall applications you no longer use.
- Move or delete large videos, downloads, and other files after confirming they are backed up or otherwise replaceable.
Free space safely on iPhone or iPad
- Open Settings > General > iPhone Storage or iPad Storage and review the largest categories.
- Remove unused applications or use Apple’s offload option when retaining their documents is important.
- Delete device files that are already backed up to iCloud only after verifying the backup exists and is current.
There is no universal free-space target in Activision’s reviewed guidance. Do not treat a particular number of gigabytes as a guaranteed requirement for every update; leave enough room for the store and game to complete their own temporary operations.
What Version 35.0’s app-size figures do—and do not—tell you
Activision’s December 8, 2025 Version 35.0 notes reported an approximate Android app size of 1.6 GB and an approximate iOS app size of 3.3 GB after that release’s packaging changes. Those figures describe that release note, not the total space required by a later installation with subsequent patches and downloaded resources. A current device can therefore need more or less space than those historical numbers suggest, depending on platform, version, and optional content.
A clean escalation checklist
If the ordered fixes do not resolve the problem, stop changing settings at random and capture a concise record:
- Android or iOS/iPadOS, device model, OS version, and available storage.
- Call of Duty: Mobile version and the date the problem started.
- Failure stage: launch, app-store install, in-game asset, or match connection.
- Exact error text, map or audio pack name, and whether the issue affects every mode.
- Network used during the failure and whether one controlled retry on another reliable connection behaved differently.
- Which official step changed the symptom, if any, and whether the change was temporary.
Provide that record to Activision Support rather than claiming that a minimum-spec device, a region change, or a single network test proves the cause. Official requirements and menu names can change with a new release, so consult the notes for the version currently installed when they conflict with an older procedure.
Quick Recap
Quick decision path
- Below the listed OS or RAM minimum? Resolve compatibility first; troubleshooting cannot turn an unsupported configuration into a supported one.
- Crashes before the lobby? Follow the Android or iOS launch sequence and test after every step.
- Store cannot install the app? Check the connection, restart, and apply the Google Play Store cache/data step on Android or the storage and connection checks on iOS/iPadOS.
- Lobby opens but a map or audio pack is missing? Use the current release’s in-game Download Manager instructions; the Version 35.0 Android path is historical.
- Only matches are laggy? Compare a restarted Wi-Fi connection with another reliable network if available; do not change the registered region as a latency fix.
- Storage warning? Review and safely free space, remembering that no official universal gigabyte target has been published.
