Start with reversible checks: close unnecessary apps, check free disk space and memory use, update your graphics driver using the GPU maker’s official guidance, and temporarily return CPU, GPU, and memory settings to stock. If the crash continues, lower the resolution or demanding graphics settings. The message alone does not prove your GPU lacks VRAM or needs replacing.
What the error means—and what it does not
The message may read: “Out of video memory trying to allocate a rendering resource. Make sure your video card has the minimum required memory, try lowering the resolution and/or closing other applications that are running.” It describes a failed attempt to allocate a rendering resource; by itself, it does not identify the cause on your PC. GPU-memory pressure is one possibility, but a driver or system-stability issue may also be involved. Epic’s Unreal Engine guidance explains GPU-memory pressure and rendering behavior, but it is general engine documentation, not a diagnosis of this game crash.
Before changing anything, note whether the crash happens at launch, during shader compilation, after playing for a while, or only in one scene. Keep the exact error text and check whether other demanding games also crash. That pattern can help distinguish a game-specific problem from wider PC instability.

Try low-risk checks first
Close applications and check memory use
Close unnecessary applications, especially other programs using substantial system or graphics resources. Check current memory use while the game is closed and again when reproducing the crash. The game FAQ advice surfaced in a Steam community announcement feed recommends closing other applications and reviewing physical memory after an abrupt crash followed by an out-of-video-memory message. The feed contains mixed content, so this attribution applies only to that specific FAQ answer.

Check available disk space
Check free space on both the system drive and the drive where the game is installed. The surfaced FAQ also recommends checking disk capacity, but its numeric free-space suggestion lacks clear enough context to treat it as a Black Myth: Wukong requirement. Do not infer a required amount or ratio from that advice.
Check the graphics driver and remove overclocks temporarily
Use the graphics-card maker’s official guidance to check for a current driver. If a normal update does not help, the surfaced FAQ mentions a clean driver installation for related launch problems. It does not identify a particular driver version as a fix for this crash, so avoid assuming that one specific release resolves it for everyone.

Temporarily return CPU, GPU, and memory settings to their default stock values. Overclocks or other stability settings can complicate diagnosis; changing them back is a reversible way to see whether the crash pattern changes. The FAQ advises disabling overclocks if the game is unstable.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Reduce rendering demand as a test
Lower the resolution or demanding graphics settings and try to reproduce the same situation. Epic’s Unreal Engine documentation explains that GPU-memory pressure can contribute to resource-allocation and performance problems, and discusses rendering screen percentage. Reducing rendering demand is therefore a reasonable general troubleshooting test, not a guaranteed game-specific fix. The trade-off is lower image quality or sharpness.

Change one setting at a time where practical and note whether the crash moves, disappears, or remains unchanged. That makes the result more useful than changing several settings at once.
Check CPU stability if the crash happens at startup or shader compilation
The surfaced game FAQ calls out instability on some Intel 13th- and 14th-generation desktop CPU systems in connection with crashes. This does not mean every crash on those processors has that cause. If your system fits this branch, consult your PC or motherboard manufacturer’s model-specific BIOS guidance. Do not apply generic voltage or frequency values from unrelated systems.

When to escalate—and what to include
If the crash persists after the reversible checks, send the official game support channel enough detail to investigate the pattern:
- The exact error message and when it appears.
- Game and graphics-driver versions.
- CPU, GPU, and installed RAM details.
- Whether other demanding games also crash.
- Which checks or settings changes you tried and what happened.
The sources available do not establish a current game patch or graphics-driver version that fixes this error for everyone. Avoid buying a GPU, memory kit, or storage device unless diagnosis confirms a specific hardware shortfall; the error text alone does not establish one.
