If the Bing app is freezing, showing a blank results page, closing, or repeatedly asking you to sign in, first determine whether the problem is the app, your connection, or one particular webpage. The iPhone app is currently listed in the App Store as Microsoft Bing Search, published by Microsoft Corporation, and requires iOS 16 or later.
Work through the fixes below in order. Stop when Bing works again; reinstalling or resetting network settings should not be your first step.
1. Test Bing on cellular data or another Wi-Fi network
Open Safari and visit bing.com. Then try the Bing app over cellular data instead of Wi-Fi. If Bing works on cellular data but not on your usual Wi-Fi, the app is probably not the main problem. The likely causes are the router, DNS filtering, a VPN, parental controls, or security software on that network.

- If cellular data is unavailable, connect to a different Wi-Fi network and test again.
- Restart your router if Bing fails only on your home network.
If Bing fails on every connection, continue with the app fixes below.

2. Force-close Bing and open it again
A blank page or frozen search screen can be a temporary app failure. Close Bing completely rather than returning to the Home Screen.
- On an iPhone with Face ID, swipe up from the bottom and pause. On an iPhone with a Home button, double-click the Home button.
- Find the Bing app preview.
- Swipe the preview up and off the screen.
- Open Bing again and repeat the search.
Apple recommends this sequence for apps that stop responding, close unexpectedly, or will not open.
3. Restart the iPhone
Restart the iPhone if force-closing does not help. This clears temporary system and networking states that an app restart may leave behind.

4. Update Microsoft Bing Search and iOS
The App Store name is Microsoft Bing Search, not simply “Bing.” Recent releases have repeatedly refreshed Copilot Search in Bing, so an update may address a crash or broken screen.
- Open the App Store.
- Tap your profile picture in the top-right corner.
- Tap App Updates.
- Tap Update next to Microsoft Bing Search, or tap Update All.
If no Bing update is available, check iOS under Settings → General → Software Update. The current App Store listing requires iOS 16.0 or later on iPhone and iPadOS 16 or later on iPad.

5. Check for a VPN, filter, or security app blocking Bing
A VPN, firewall, antivirus app, parental-control service, or content filter can prevent Bing from loading search results or webpages. This is especially likely when Bing works on cellular data but fails on one Wi-Fi network.

- VPN
- profile
- firewall
- filter
If you installed a third-party VPN or security product, Apple recommends temporarily uninstalling it, restarting the iPhone, and testing again—not merely switching it off. Do this only if you are able to reinstall or restore the service afterward. Do not remove a work or school profile without permission from the administrator.
6. Reinstall the Bing app
There is no standard Bing “clear cache” button documented in the iPhone settings. If the app remains broken after updating and restarting, the supported app-level reset is to delete and redownload it.
- Touch and hold the Bing icon.
- Tap Remove App, then Delete App.
- Confirm the deletion.
- Open the App Store and search for Microsoft Bing Search.
- Check that the publisher is Microsoft Corporation, then tap the download button.
Deleting an app can remove data stored locally in it. You may need to sign in again, and app-specific settings or offline data may not return.
7. Reset network settings as a last resort
Use this only when multiple apps or websites have connection problems, or when Bing fails because the iPhone has corrupted or incorrect network configuration.

- Open Settings.
- Tap General.
- Tap Transfer or Reset iPhone.
- Tap Reset.
- Tap Reset Network Settings.
- Enter the passcode and confirm.
This removes saved Wi-Fi networks and passwords and resets cellular, VPN, and APN settings. Make sure you know your Wi-Fi password before proceeding. On a company- or school-managed iPhone, ask the administrator first because the device may need its managed network configuration.
When Bing works in Safari but not in the app
If bing.com works in Safari but the Bing app does not, focus on the app: force-close it, restart the phone, update it, and reinstall it if necessary. App Store user reports have described freezes, blank result pages, broken three-dot menus, unexpected returns to the Home Screen, repeated sign-in prompts, and problems inside Rewards or other mini-app sections. These are user reports rather than confirmed Microsoft-wide defects, but they help distinguish an app-specific failure from a general Bing outage.
If only one webpage fails inside Bing, open its URL in Safari or Microsoft Edge. Some pages may not render correctly in an in-app web view even though Bing search itself is working.

If you use Bing through Safari rather than the Microsoft Bing Search app, try the following.
Clear Safari history and website data
- Open Settings → Apps → Safari.
- Tap Clear History and Website Data.
- Select the required timeframe.
- Tap Clear History.
To remove cookies and cached website data while keeping browsing history, go to Settings → Apps → Safari → Advanced → Website Data → Remove All Website Data → Remove Now.
Clearing Safari data does not clear search history maintained independently by the Bing app or another app.

Check JavaScript and cookies
JavaScript must be enabled for many search pages and interactive results:
Settings → Apps → Safari → Advanced → JavaScript. Turn on JavaScript if it is off.
Also check Settings → Apps → Safari → Advanced → Block All Cookies. Blocking cookies can prevent sign-in and make site features fail. Leave this setting off while testing Bing.
If Clear History and Website Data is gray, there may be no data to clear, or Screen Time web-content restrictions may be preventing the action.
Temporarily check iCloud Private Relay
If only Bing or a particular Bing page fails in Safari, temporarily turn off iCloud Private Relay in your iCloud settings and test again. Privacy-routing and content-filtering features can affect how individual websites load.

When to contact Microsoft
Contact Microsoft support after you have tested another network, updated iOS and Bing, and reinstalled the app. Include the iPhone model, iOS version, Microsoft Bing Search version, the exact screen that fails, and whether the issue occurs on Wi-Fi, cellular data, or both. Avoid sending passwords or payment information in screenshots.

Why is the Bing app not opening on my iPhone?
Force-close Microsoft Bing Search, reopen it, restart the iPhone, and install any available app or iOS update. If it still will not open, delete the app and redownload it from the App Store.
Does Bing have a clear-cache option on iPhone?
There is no standard Bing cache-clearing control documented in iPhone settings. The app-level reset is to delete Microsoft Bing Search and download it again. This can remove locally stored app data.

No. Safari history and the Bing app maintain separate data. Clearing Safari data can help when you use Bing in Safari, but it normally will not reset the Microsoft Bing Search app.
Why is Bing showing a blank page after I search?
