If an Among Us lobby code is rejected or opens the wrong room, first ask the host to resend the code from the live lobby. Then verify the room details, check the region and chat settings, and update the game if needed. In the documented matchmaking flow, the game shows key lobby details before you join, which helps pinpoint what is wrong.
1. Re-enter the code and verify the lobby details
Ask the host to read or resend the code while they are in the intended lobby, then enter it again from Play > Online > Enter Code. Innersloth’s March 25, 2025 update documents a confirmation screen showing the host, lobby capacity, region, and chat type before you select Join Game. Check those details against the session you meant to join; if the host or room information does not match, stop and get the code again.
The update does not specify a current code length or character rule, so avoid relying on an assumed format. See Innersloth’s update 16.0.0 matchmaking notes.
2. Make sure the host still has the intended lobby open
Ask the host to confirm that the room you are trying to join is still available, then resend the code from that lobby. A code points to a particular room; checking that the host has the intended session open is a practical way to rule out a stale or mistaken invitation, though Innersloth does not document that an unavailable room is necessarily the cause of a rejected code.

3. Check the region and chat type
On the code-entry confirmation screen, compare the displayed region and chat type with the host’s settings. In its 2025 update, Innersloth says the game can update a region or chat-type mismatch to match the lobby when the player has permission to use Free Chat.
If the setting does not change or the needed option is unavailable, check your account and chat permissions, and ask the host to confirm the lobby settings. The documented automatic adjustment is conditional on Free Chat permission; it is not a guarantee that every mismatch can be resolved for every account.

4. Update the game, then report a repeatable failure
Check that Among Us is updated on your platform. Innersloth’s 2025 update recommends keeping the game current and explains that its version system helps support narrow down problems. An update is a sensible check, but the update does not promise that it will fix a lobby-code error.

If the same problem continues, contact Innersloth support. Include your platform, game version, the exact error message, what you did before it appeared, and steps that reliably reproduce it. Innersloth recommends useful details, screenshots, and repeatable video where possible. Epic Games’ Among Us support page also routes support issues to Innersloth.

When a shared invite is the problem
Innersloth’s May 10, 2021 post describes Discord integration for sharing room-code invites on mobile and joining invites from mobile or PC. It says access to linking and interaction buttons requires a non-minor user logged into a full account. This is an invitation-sharing option, not a fix for a code that fails after entry; if the invite does not work, return to the live code and lobby details above.
