Start by finding the robot’s exact model number and opening the matching Shark owner’s guide. Error codes, indicator lights, charging steps, and app instructions can differ across Shark robot families, so do not assume that a code or button sequence applies to every model.

Find the model number and check its manual first

Use the model number on the robot or its documentation to locate the matching guide on Shark support for your region. Follow that guide’s shutdown and maintenance instructions before handling the robot. The error examples below are from specific Shark Matrix families, not a universal Shark code list.

If the robot is stuck, stops, or shows an error

For the Matrix models covered by Shark’s US RV2400WD guide and UK RV2620WDUK guide, first look for a physical obstruction. Turn the robot off using its model-specific procedure, then check the following:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Remove hair and debris from the side brush, drive wheels, and brushroll; the brushroll should spin freely.
  • Check that the front bumper moves in and out freely.
  • Clean the cliff sensors as directed in the guide.
  • If the robot is on or against an obstacle, move it to a level, clear area.
  • Remove and reinstall the dust bin, making sure it is seated correctly.

On those cited Matrix guides, the error number may need to be read together with the light pattern. Their chart associates error 2 with several possibilities, including a stuck side brush or drive wheel, a wheel-motor encoder failure, or a blocked brushroll; use the chart for the exact model to distinguish them. Error 3 points to a suction-motor indication, with bin, filter, and blockage checks prescribed. Error 6 indicates a possible jammed front bumper; error 7 relates to cliff sensors; error 9 means the dust bin needs reinstalling; and error 10 indicates an obstacle. Error 16 means the robot is stuck, error 21 is a boot error, and error 24 indicates a critically low battery or charging error. These meanings apply only to the cited Matrix families.

If the model’s chart identifies an encoder fault, or a motor or charging fault remains after the manual’s checks, contact Shark support. Do not open the robot or attempt an internal repair based only on an error number.

If the robot will not charge or dock

  1. Confirm the charging base is powered and positioned as directed in the robot’s exact guide.
  2. Seat the robot on the base as instructed. The cited Matrix guide says its base indicator should show when a critically low robot is placed correctly.
  3. For the RV2900XEUK family, Shark’s German support article recommends turning the robot off and cleaning the charging contacts on both the robot and base with a dry cloth. Follow the instructions for your region and model: Shark charging guidance.
  4. If the guide calls for it, verify that you are using the correct power cord for the model.

If the robot still reports a charging fault after these checks, consult its guide or contact Shark support rather than trying an unlisted reset or repair.

  1. Restart your phone, robot, and router.
  2. Connect your phone to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network; the cited guide says this robot does not support 5 GHz.
  3. Disable VPNs or proxy servers during setup, and check that the router is not using Wi-Fi isolation.
  4. On iOS 14 or later, allow Local Network Access for the Shark app.
  5. If the robot was connected before, remove it from the app and add it again using the guide’s instructions.

The guide says a robot that disconnects may reconnect when it returns within router range. If these steps do not work, confirm that the model and app match the instructions before changing router settings further.

If cleaning performance drops or the brushroll stops

Clear hair and debris from the brushroll first, following the exact guide’s maintenance instructions. The Matrix manual identifies blockage as a cause of brushroll trouble and says to remove debris so the roll can spin freely. If the brushroll is damaged or worn after cleaning, check replacement compatibility by the robot’s exact model number; Shark lists replaceable components in its Matrix guide and provides parts and accessories information. A part listed for one Shark robot should not be assumed to fit another.
