To clear a paper jam in a Samsung printer, first note the full model number and the exact jam message, then follow the instructions for that model and the location named. Turn to the tray, feeder, interior, exit area, or duplex path only if your printer has that path. Pull paper slowly and gently; do not force paper or reach into an unidentified area.
Before opening the printer
- Write down the complete model number, usually shown on the printer label or its display, and note the exact error or jam-location message.
- Find the manual or support page for that exact model. Samsung-family printers do not share one safe cover-opening sequence. Samsung’s SL-M2024 support page, for example, lists manuals for that model; those instructions should not be assumed to apply to another printer.
- If the printer has just been operating, take care around internal components: the fuser area can be hot. Use the access steps in your model’s guide.
For selected Samsung Xpress models—SL-M2620/M2626, SL-M2820/M2826, and SL-M2830/M2836—HP Support’s paper-jam guide provides model-family instructions. It is not a universal guide for every Samsung printer.
Find the jam location named by the display or manual
Samsung-family instructions separate jam locations because the safe way to access paper differs by area. Check only the locations that your model’s message or manual identifies.
Input tray
Check the input tray as directed by your manual. If the jammed sheet is accessible, pull it slowly and gently. Stop if it resists rather than tugging harder.

Manual or multipurpose feeder
If the message points to a manual or multipurpose feeder, follow the model’s specific access steps for that feeder. Do not assume its cover, guides, or paper path match those of another Samsung model.
Inside the printer
Use the manual’s named procedure to access an internal jam. The fuser can be hot, so do not reach into an unidentified area or dismantle the printer. If the paper is not visible or will not move, follow the next step in the exact model’s guide or stop and contact model support.

Exit area
For a jam at the output or exit area, use the access method specified for your model and remove accessible paper slowly and gently. Avoid pulling against resistance, which can tear the sheet.

Use a duplex-area procedure only if your printer has a duplex path and the message or manual identifies it. Not every Samsung printer has this path, and the access steps are model-specific.

Remove paper without making the jam worse
- Follow the exact model guide to open the cover or access the named jam area. Do not open a different cover just because it is easy to reach.
- Grip visible paper and pull slowly and gently, in the direction allowed by the model’s instructions. Samsung-family guidance specifically warns that slow, gentle removal helps avoid tearing the paper.
- If the paper does not move, is not visible, or appears deep inside the printer, stop. Use the next named step in that model’s guide; do not force the sheet or improvise with a tool.
- Close covers and resume printing only as the model’s guide directs. For the selected Xpress families covered by HP Support, its instructions include opening and closing the front cover; that is not established as a universal reset step.
When to stop and get model-specific help
Stop rather than pull harder if paper resists, you cannot see it in the named area, reaching it would require dismantling the printer, or the jam message remains after following the manual. Return to the support page for your exact model or contact the manufacturer’s support channel. The cited instructions do not establish one universally compatible tool or replacement part for clearing a Samsung paper jam.
