If your soundbar plays sound but does not indicate Dolby Atmos, trace the signal from the title to the bar: confirm the content and service support Atmos, then check the source output, TV audio settings, HDMI route and soundbar format display. Atmos depends on every link in that chain; a working audio connection alone does not mean Atmos is reaching the soundbar.
1. Confirm the title and service actually offer Atmos
Check the title’s details or playback information for a Dolby Atmos badge. Availability can depend on the particular title, streaming app, playback device and subscription tier—not just whether your TV and soundbar support Atmos. Dolby notes that some services require an eligible subscription and identifies Netflix Premium as including Atmos; check the service’s current plan terms, supported devices and title availability in your country because these can change. Dolby’s troubleshooting guidance covers these eligibility checks.
If the title or playback route does not offer Atmos, changing HDMI settings cannot add an Atmos soundtrack. First try a title and app that explicitly indicate Atmos on a device supported by the service.

2. Check the soundbar and HDMI route
Confirm the exact soundbar model supports Dolby Atmos, then check how audio reaches it. For TV audio return, connect the TV’s HDMI port labeled ARC or eARC to the soundbar’s matching ARC/eARC port. Dolby recommends eARC where possible and describes this as a one-cable connection. Follow the device manuals for the correct ports and setup. Dolby’s home-theater connection guide provides setup guidance.
#1 Best Overall
- Simplified 5.1ch Dolby Atmos Setup: Enjoy immersive 4D sound with real Dolby Atmos and 5.1-channel audio. Five built-in speakers, including two side-firing drivers, create wide surround without rear speakers. Precision DSP ensures <0.5 ms latency for smooth, theater-like sound. Setup takes less than 1 minute.
- Voice Clarity Enhancement: VoiceMX technology uses advanced DSP algorithms to isolate and enhance vocal frequencies in real time. Dialogue remains crisp and easy to follow by separating speech from background effects and music, even at low volumes or during intense scenes.
- 300W Output with 6-Driver System: Featuring five precision-tuned full-range drivers and a dedicated wired wooden subwoofer, the system delivers up to 300W of peak power for bold, room-filling sound. With a frequency response of 45 Hz–18 kHz and a maximum SPL of 99 dB, it reproduces everything from subtle nuances to explosive cinematic effects.
- 18 mm High-Excursion Driver: Powered by BassMX technology, the wired wooden subwoofer features a 18 mm high-excursion driver, a 5.3L tuned cabinet, and a high-density magnetic circuit. This design delivers deeper, tighter bass with greater air displacement and enhanced low-frequency performance—bringing more realism to every scene.
- HDMI eARC for True Dolby Atmos: HDMI eARC supports up to 37 Mbps of bandwidth, unlocking the full potential of lossless Dolby Atmos 5.1-channel audio. Compared to standard ARC, eARC delivers richer surround effects and greater detail. CEC integration allows the TV and soundbar to work together with unified control.
If your TV has no ARC/eARC connection, a compatible external player may connect directly to a soundbar’s HDMI input, with video passed from the soundbar to the TV. This only works if the bar accepts the source’s audio format and can pass through the required video formats. Check the soundbar and source manuals rather than assuming every HDMI input supports the same formats.
3. Set the TV to pass supported audio to the soundbar
Open the TV’s sound or audio settings and look for an output mode such as Auto, Pass Through, Bitstream or Dolby Atmos. Choose the mode that sends the supported format to the connected soundbar. Menu labels and behavior vary by TV: the result can depend on the TV’s audio implementation, the capabilities it detects from the connected receiver and whether the ARC/eARC link supports the format. Dolby’s endpoint device testing guidance discusses these dependencies. Consult your TV manual for the intended setting.

4. Check the playback device’s audio output
For a streaming box, set-top box, game console or disc player, select bitstream or the device’s equivalent Atmos-capable output mode where available. A source configured to convert or mix audio may send a different format even when the original content has Atmos.
For Blu-ray players
Turn off secondary audio or audio-mix mode if it is enabled. Mixing secondary audio can cause the player to output Dolby Digital or another channel-based format instead of passing the Atmos soundtrack. Dolby’s soundbar setup guide recommends checking the source’s bitstream and secondary-audio settings.

5. Check whether ARC or eARC supports the format in your chain
ARC and eARC are not interchangeable for every audio format. In the specific case of a source that sends Atmos as Dolby MAT, Dolby says the TV must support transcoding the Dolby MAT bitstream or pass it through over eARC; ARC does not have enough bandwidth for the described MAT passthrough. This does not mean ARC cannot carry any Atmos format. Check the format support of your exact source, TV and soundbar, and use eARC if the format and devices require it. Dolby’s endpoint guidance explains the Dolby MAT limitation.
6. Verify what the soundbar is decoding
Play a title known to offer Atmos and check the soundbar’s on-screen display, app or status indicator for an Atmos indication. Dolby’s soundbar setup guide advises checking the soundbar display when you are unsure whether it is receiving and decoding Atmos. The soundbar may still produce audio when the signal reaching it is a different format.

With CEC, your TV and soundbar work as one—power, volume, and input sync automatically for effortless control.
- Advanced App Control: Customize every detail of your audio experience with the Ultimea App. Fine-tune your surround sound with 13-step level adjustment (-6 to +6), optimize with a 10-band graphic EQ, and choose from 121 preset sound settings. Enjoy seamless OTA updates that unlock new features and keep your system performing at its peak.
7. Isolate the remaining link before changing hardware
If the bar does not show Atmos, compare paths one at a time. Try a TV-native streaming app and an external player if available, using the same known Atmos title where possible. If only one path fails, focus on that app, source device or connection route; if both fail, revisit the TV output and soundbar settings. Change one setting or connection at a time so you can identify which change affects the format indication.

Do not replace an HDMI cable as the first step. Dolby says HDMI v1.4 and later supports Atmos-encoded audio, while recommending an appropriate high-speed cable for ARC/eARC setups. Replace the existing cable only if troubleshooting points to a faulty cable or the device makers specify a required capability for your setup. Check the cable guidance in Dolby’s connection guide and your device manuals.
