If your Optoma Photon Beam PK52 looks blurry, check focus; if the image is trapezoidal or crooked, check projector placement and image geometry. These are different problems, and keystone correction is not a fix for uneven focus. Work through the checks below in order, then contact Optoma support if a section of the image stays blurry.
First identify what is wrong with the image
- The entire picture looks soft: try the PK52’s advertised auto-focus feature and see whether the image sharpens.
- The picture is wider at one end, tilted, or not square: check whether the projector is level and centered in relation to the screen or wall. This is a geometry issue.
- Only one corner or part of the picture is blurry: focus and placement checks may help identify the issue, but the available PK52 guidance does not establish a specific calibration fix for uneven focus.
If the whole image is blurry, check focus
Optoma’s Photon Beam PK52 product page advertises auto-focus. Use that feature and check whether it improves the whole image. Optoma describes auto-focus and auto-keystone as features that adjust the projected image; that is product-page language, not a guarantee that automatic setup will correct every image problem.
The available PK52 manual copy includes focus among the display controls, but it is hosted by a retailer rather than Optoma and does not provide sufficiently verified instructions here for a manual focus sequence. Check the menu and instructions for your own unit rather than assuming a particular button sequence or menu path.
If the image is trapezoidal or crooked, correct placement first
A picture with unequal top and bottom widths or sides that do not form a square is a geometry symptom, commonly called keystone distortion. Before changing correction settings, make sure the projector is level and centered toward a flat projection surface. Optoma’s APAC support guidance recommends checking placement, distance, and surface flatness. Its USA support guidance recommends adjusting Keystone until the image is square.

Use PK52 geometry controls carefully
The available manual copy lists Auto V Keystone, V Keystone, H Keystone, and Four Corner Adjustment under geometric correction. It also describes a reset for geometric correction. Menu labels and behavior may vary by firmware or region, so confirm them on the PK52 itself.
- Auto V Keystone: the manual copy says this mode disables manual V/H Keystone and Four Corner Adjustment while active.
- Manual keystone: V and H Keystone can correct vertical and horizontal geometry. The manual copy warns that keystone adjustment reduces the image size slightly.
- Four Corner Adjustment: listed in the manual copy for geometry adjustment; it should not be treated as a focus control.
Make one geometry adjustment at a time, then check whether the image is square and still large enough for your viewing area. General Optoma guidance about keystone and four-corner adjustment in Smart Control explains the concepts but does not verify that those Smart Control instructions apply to the PK52.

- All the replacement projector lamps from Dekain are built with original bulbs from OEM manufacturers.
- The lamp module includes compatible housing which is made from durable materials and will fit properly.
- The lamp is tested before dispatch to meet the OEM original standards of quality, function and performance. The lifespan is 3 times longer than economic lamps.
- Easy installation: Shut down the projector and take out the old lamp after cooling down. Put in the new lamp and make sure the plug is connected well. Reset the timer when finished.
If only part of the image remains blurry
If the center or most of the picture sharpens but one corner or area does not, do not keep changing keystone settings in the hope of fixing focus. Keystone changes image geometry; the reviewed PK52 material does not establish that it corrects uneven focus or diagnose a persistent optical or mechanical fault.
