Start with the current transition notice from the ISP now handling your service. It should explain when your account moves, where to find your new account number, which billing portal to use, and how to reach support. Check both the email address on your old account and postal mail; until the notice confirms the move, do not assume your new portal or payment instructions are active.
Find out which ISP now handles your account
Look for a notice tied to your existing account or service address. It should identify the successor provider and, where applicable, the transition date and instructions. If an unexpected message is difficult to verify, go to the provider’s official website independently rather than following its link.
Keep your latest old-provider bill handy. It can help support locate the account and gives you a reference for charges and payment history. Transition rules are specific to the provider, service area, and stage of the move; an acquisition does not establish one universal billing or support policy.
Find your new account number and bill
Search for the transition notice
Search the email account associated with the old ISP for terms such as “account number,” “billing,” and “migration,” and check postal mail too. Look for the new number, the date the account moves, portal setup instructions, and the support contact to use during the transition.

Some providers send the new number before migration. For example, US Internet (USI) says it sends a new number in its final communication before a billing-platform move, by email if it has an address on file or by physical letter otherwise. If a customer cannot find it, USI says support can look up the account using the old account number or last name. Those are USI’s instructions for its own migration, not a universal rule. Use the portal that applies to the migration stage
Follow the notice’s timing. The old portal or payment method may remain in effect before the move, and the successor’s portal may not recognize the account until migration is complete. USI, for example, says migrated customers use the new number to sign in to its new portal and should continue paying through their existing method until the move. Check your own provider’s directions before changing portals or payment arrangements. USI billing migration FAQ

Inspect the first new bill
Once the successor’s billing system is active, open the first new invoice and confirm the account number, bill period, amount, due date, payment options, and remit-to address. Check for any new PIN or portal-security instructions as well. Save the invoice and transition notice so you can refer to them if a later charge or payment appears inconsistent.

It also says its billing-platform move may shift the due date by a day or two and that taxes may differ because of a changed calculation method. USI describes that platform move as not changing internet service. These details are specific to USI’s billing migration; they do not establish what will happen to another ISP’s invoice, taxes, due date, or service. USI billing migration FAQ

- Compatible with major cable internet providers including Xfinity and Cox. NOT compatible with Verizon, Spectrum, AT&T, CenturyLink, DSL providers, DirecTV, DISH and any bundled voice service. Best for cable provider plans up to 800Mbps.
Check payment instructions before changing anything
Provider-managed automatic payments, a bank’s bill-pay service, and a third-party payment arrangement may follow different rules. Read the transition notice and first bill, and update only the arrangements the provider says need new details. Do not assume that autopay transfers automatically—or that it does not.
- Provider-managed autopay: Confirm whether the successor says it will transfer the arrangement. USI says its autopay information transfers automatically; Spectrum Business says it updates its own Auto Pay automatically when an account number changes. These are provider-specific policies, not a guarantee for other ISPs. USI billing migration FAQ · Spectrum Business account-number change FAQ
- Bank bill pay or a third-party service: Check whether you need to change the payee, account number, or payment address. USI says bank bill-pay address details need updating, while Spectrum Business tells customers to provide the new account number for bank, card, or other third-party autopay arrangements. Follow the instructions for your provider and payment method. USI billing migration FAQ · Spectrum Business account-number change FAQ
- Payment by mail: Use the remit-to address printed on the current bill or specified in the verified transition notice, not an address copied from an old invoice unless the provider confirms it remains valid.
Contact the right support team during the transition
Use the support number or official contact page in the current transition notice. If you are unsure whether the move is complete, ask which billing system and support channel currently handle your account. Keep the old account number or bill available; ask whether support can also search by service address or account-holder details if the new number is missing.

Support routing can change in stages. In its transition instructions for former WOW! customers in named areas, Astound Broadband told customers to keep using their existing phone numbers until the transition was complete. Highline’s acquisition FAQ, by contrast, directed affected customers to its customer-care team at 888-212-0054. These instructions apply to those specific transitions, not to other providers or regions. Verify the contact in your own current notice or on the provider’s official site. For an account lookup, share identifying details only through a contact channel you have verified independently. Do not enter sensitive information into an unverified site or give a one-time security code to someone who contacted you unexpectedly.

If the number, bill, or support contact is missing
- Check both delivery channels: Search the email address on the old account and check postal mail for the transition notice or a separate account-number letter.
- Check the migration date: If the move has not happened yet, follow the old billing and payment process until the provider says otherwise.
- Open the official support page: Navigate to the successor provider’s website yourself and use its published contact channel or the number in a verified notice.
- Ask for an account lookup: Have the old bill ready and ask what information support can use to locate the account. Do not assume every ISP can search by the same details.
- Verify the new bill before paying: Confirm the account identifier, amount, due date, payment address, and payment method against the provider’s instructions. Ask billing support about discrepancies rather than inferring a general acquisition policy.
