In the PS4 version of Shadow of the Colossus, the sixteen colossi appear in a fixed sequence. Use a numbered map to identify each encounter, then follow the sword’s light toward the active target. For optional upgrades, shoot fruit from trees to increase maximum health and collect white-tailed lizards to increase maximum stamina. After completing the game, Time Attack rewards can help locate both types.
Find the colossi in sequence
The PS4 walkthrough by Shotgunnova provides a map with the colossi numbered in order of appearance, plus a dedicated section for each encounter. Keep the map available as a reference, then use the sword’s focused light outdoors as a directional cue toward the currently targeted colossus. The guide’s first route, for example, uses the light’s direction relative to the Shrine of Worship and has Wander ride Agro toward that bearing. Use the matching numbered section for terrain and approach details; a broad direction alone may not be enough to find the correct route. The guide’s map is specific to the PS4 walkthrough, so don’t assume its controls or any map coordinates apply unchanged to the PS2 or PS3 releases.
Find fruit to increase maximum health
Fruit grows on trees around the Forbidden Land. Shoot fruit down with the bow, then collect it to raise Wander’s maximum health. Some trees are easy to overlook because they sit at dead-end cliffs or overlooks rather than beside a natural route. The PS4 walkthrough describes the fruit-collecting method and includes a Fruit Tree Map as a later exploration aid.
Find white-tailed lizards to increase maximum stamina
White-tailed lizards can appear throughout the world, including near save shrines. Knock one down with a sword, arrow, or Agro, then collect it to increase maximum stamina. A PlayStationTrophies guide also identifies the useful collectible as the white-tailed lizard tail and connects it to stamina.
The available guides establish these collection methods, but not a dependable exhaustive count or a complete location list that is verified across editions. If you want every fruit or lizard location, use a map or video guide specifically matched to your release and confirm that it covers both collectible types.
Use locator rewards after finishing the game
Time Attack is post-completion content. To start a trial, pray at the corresponding colossus statue in the Shrine of Worship and complete the fight within its time limit. Successful challenges award items that appear at the back pool of the Shrine. Rewards are separated by Normal and Hard difficulty, and earned items cannot be used during Time Attack itself.

The PS4 walkthrough lists a Lizard Detection Stone, which displays nearby lizards, and a Fruit Tree Map, which displays fruit trees, among the rewards. Their unlock thresholds differ by difficulty; check the guide’s reward table for the applicable threshold rather than assuming one universal unlock requirement. These tools help on a later exploration run, but they are not available before the story is complete.
